  1. bj bear off the un mentionable place gave me good price and service.
  2. if they are in fact males they are quite a bit over priced. They will still sell for that I would think but I would not pay that much for a male.Even a young female you would have a 8-10 year wait ,maybe longer??to breed.
  3. you get the worms.i`ll get the mulberry?
  4. better get yourself on to the other site we are not alowed to mention. There are some young greek spurr thighs just listed last night at the princly sum of $1800 each. Not often forsale at any price and I would say some if not all will already be sold?welcome here as well.
  5. I wouldn`t worry too much.Mine spent the whole weekend outside in the fenced backyard. They can take gradual variations in temperatures and I think they should be given these, lets face it they come from desert locations where it gets pretty cool at night to searing heat during the day. They are only active when conditions suit them and seek refuge from extremes.Yours will no doubt be a youngster so make sure he can get away from too much heat, sun through a window even for a short time could be disasterous!
  6. probably be good for a while, they don`t have urine as such other than a bit of a juicy one now and then?the urine comes out as urates as in like the white part of a bird shit, scoop up a bit extra sand ,should be sweet?
  7. watch those huhus jam got one of mine blocked up with them once, legs were half paralysed but luckily managed to pass it?
  8. they are here but only one place I know has them for sure(seen them myself)
  9. I don`t know wether you get that kiykuia grass down that way?at beachs etc.thats quite good to use as it stays green right into the summer.Just grab a handfull and cut off with a knife, put a rubber band etc around to hold it in a tight bunch and get a collection of small jars etc to stand it in water in your tank.you can gather a shopping bag of bunches and store in the fridge for a few days, then when they eat it down to a stump throw it out and put a fresh one in.I get them a couple of times a week on the roadside by an organic garden(no spray)and stand them in a bucket of water till needed.some just chuck it in on the ground but its so warm in there does not last long.
  10. once a week??depends if I run out of other stuff,I mix it up with grated carrot ,chopped greens as well.Give it heaps.
  11. gourmet beef & heart medley is what mine get and like.Smallish tin which is good, share it between them and the boxies.Good to add calcium to as well.
  12. without knowing its a female?assuming it is she could be fat enough to lay.Mine never showed bugger all the first time and still had 17 eggs from memory?is it off its food at all?wait for a warm day and take it outside where you can`t lose it and put it on some soft dirt and watch it.Mine just started digging pretty much straight away as we have good soft pumicy soil here.if you hold it up gently while its facing away from you,by the tail you may see the eggs like little bulges, then it may just be a restless boy?let us know how you go.
  13. 30 minimum,34 is better, they need the heat to produce viable eggs. Also make sure you know whats happening at your grass source.Traces of insecticide will not kill them but render them sterile. That means fencelines adjourning orchards/marketgardens etc are out of bounds. You can do everything right bar this and no babies???You can culture your own grass as in wheat seedlings but you have to plan ahead for germination growth etc to have the right ammount at the right time, this is a good way to get around the parasite issue but short of producing them on a comercial basis alot of work,NZ market would not justify either I would say.
  14. if thats from T&E I think you will find its a hoax? There was another for monkeys, and macaw eggs at a price too good to be true??(it wasn`t)
  15. they need a certain day length to produce eggs, mine get light 24/7 and have never heard them complain?I regulate the heat with the wattage of bulb, they are out in the garage, cold as a frog`s tit in winter, hot as in summer,as long as they can get away from or towards the heat source seems ok.Stand your grass in bundles in a jar of water as that is their only moisture source,a dish of branflakes or chook mash and you are away.
  16. I have 3 small sacks of pool filter sand if anyone wants it?Dark stuff but when you say sand it is really fine gravel, would be ideal but weighs a ton and I don`t want to cart it anywhere so you`ll have to come for it whoever wants it?
  17. they get food and heat laid on,what else is there to do?lay around in the best spot you can find, digest your food then go find some more?? Baby dragons eat large ammounts of food and given ideal conditions can grow really fast.To raise clutches of young ones is quite demanding in terms of keeping the food up to them, any shortfalls can end in tradgedy with missing tails ,limbs or even siblings.
  18. yes,its cardboard, just a shallow box cutoff to the lenght of the see through cups.Does not cover the whole floor area but when they are up on it they have no problem thinking its the place to lay.I take the cups out at least weekly and cover with gladwrap and a rubberband, also do like mincie and recover after first hatch and usually get more than one per cup.you can save the sand and sieve it to get old cups out then rinse it,then put in a big pot and bring to boil or do small batchs in the mirowave to sterilise it.Wait till the mrs is not home for this procedure.
  19. should be ok alan, just push it into a corner and make some little ladders out of wiremesh so they can climb easily. propagating pumice sand works best for me,dampen it down a bit and the trick is to not leave it in there too long, its quite warm in there and it dries out fast.better to replace with a fresh one than leave a dry one in longer or to try and add water, just does not get deep enough into the medium.I take mine out once a week and thats probably pushing it abit long, probably costs me a few viable eggs,as you get more experienced you cut a few corners? When Istarted I would take the egg cups out everytime I saw they had layed and I got heaps more babies, also had heaps of containers to hatch and fill etc etc??
  20. I have wooden with sliding up glass front, trapdoor in roof and/or side for food acess and mesh floor for waste to drop through, you can cover this with a sheet of paper etc when they are first in there so they don`t fall through.I have an enterchangable floor with cup holes on half if I want to breed in there or just mesh for rearing.mesh ladders on the sides for resting/basking.
  21. you seem to know alot.Do you also know all healthy animals can deal with certain levels of parasites?trying to keep them in a plastic bubble type environment is just like the ostrich with its head in the sand.Even the cultured locusts you buy are not gauranteed to be free of parasites.Do a google on mermithid nematode and wonder to yourself if you have fed any of those to your beardies.
  22. thats what I was thinking mincie boy, have you got a pic of it?
  23. geez Tabz, lucky your not a girl ,you would be one of those drama queens?Crawled through poison(they would be dead??)stuff out of the garden probably has more food value and nutrient than the cultivated stuff you buy and generally pay through the nose for?Just use a bit of discretion and judgment about what you get and where you get it from. What do you think these things eat in the wild?Anything that they can out run that fits in their mouth.
