  2. Im not saying its not bacterial, this was my first thought. The fish that were sent away for testing did not have anything bacterial. The other 1000 just were not tested, not all these guppies died, so matbe we were just unluckly. The bizzar thing is i don't see anything wrong with the fish. they look 100%, but you just get them dropping dead,

I agree also, i use to change the amout of food i thru in to try and solve the problems i was having, like no3 and po4 etc. I found the tank settled down when i fed the same amount on a regular basis.

The fish i keep are 10 chromis 2 anthias (squarpinnis sp?) 1 15cm marine betta 1 six line wrasse 2 threadfin cardinals 1 green mandarin 1 15cm rabbit fish (this dude poos) 1 sailfin tang and 1 sargassum trogger this in a 850ltr tank. No nitrate problem and po4 is at about 0.01 last time i checked (deltec). when i feed dry, it is one standard pinch, frozen is about 1 cube (standard size) and same for the frozen i make myself. Some tanks, with really nice color do have nitrates that are about 5 - 10. But in saying that i think the amount that they may or may not require is quite small. i have seen tanks that are amazing, with and without nitrates.

The amount you feed will greatly depend on what type of fish you keep. My marine betta, only really needs food a couple of times a week, as where my anthias need heaps more two three times a day, m trigger needs heaps of chunky/meaty food, other wise he just goes skinny. I think small amount more often is the best way, well works better for me. Say small pinch of dry food, couple of hours later cube of frozen etc, up to 4 times a day, this is what i do.

i found ivodka did get rid of the cynao. However after i stopped it came back. its starting to go again now, haven't added anything either. Just give it some time. If you are going to use vodka i would halve the dosage mentioned before. then every day or second day increase the amount by 1ml, till you get to the full dosage. Doing it this way you limit some of the problems some people find by adding it.
  9. no one argue with chim, you will never win

  12. Some of you guys/girls are being unfair, and even more so to the people asking the questions on TM. What about someone who puts a blue tang or sailfin tang in to a 100 or 150ltr tank. Is that unfair. the answer is yes. All im saying is that you have no idea what went on when this person was buying the tank. Most of us put fish that will grow to big into our aquariums. or put to many fish in. Also you may want to find out how far clownfish travel from there home, you may be suprised

Thanks fay, i have had a really close look but can't see anything, just white spots, there would be about 10 of them. They are mainly round the base bottom 1/3

I have a monti like this I keeps recceding from the base, as well as this it has spots that appear on it. about 5mm round ish. These spots don't recover. Any ideas? somekind of parasite? I have had it for about 7 months, so it is very slowly dieing. I can't get any decent photos of it sorry. Has this happened to anyone else? Reef?
