What she doesn't know etc etc Have another one in the garage anyway. Finished plumbing it up last night, now all the water from the overflow(less a we bit) goes thru the skimmer. After 24hrs, the difference was amazing. I was pumping about 600lt per hour before. It has pulled some crap over night, about the same amount as 2days worth before.

yip, as long as you use the correct wire, single core or strand, not the stuff with lots of little wires. you will find you will need to strip back to about 6mm, then push in, they are self locking. if they still pull out, you may have to strip the wire back more or its the wrong size wire.

it may be up that high, but it would be hard to tell between 60 and 80 color would look the same. Mine was over 50 for about 1 month and i found it hard to tell the correct reading. i used vodka to bring it done, worked sweet. I think in that time i only did one water change. My level is now at 0 (no color on salifert test kit)

I tryed the flash for the first time on these pics, just playing round a bit. I have found when i take them with just the halides on the photos come out really yellow greenish. the tank doesn't look like that (yellow) it is more of a white color. Just trying to get the photos looking like what they are in the tank

Starting to see a bit more color in the corals, and good growth. Have been using probio every 2 weeks now for abaout 3 months and started adding it weekly about 3 weeks ago. Tank is really looking cleaner, mainly things like algae on the pipe work and on the starboard are now algae free. anyone no the name of this? these were all brown about 1 month ago. under atinic

The skimmer is working well, better than my last DIY one. The skimate is nice and dark, and is pulling about 200 - 250ml day. Still playing with the water level and amount of water coming in. I will be adding another pump shortly.

What size pipe is it on the deltec? I would have though the control over the amount of water coming out would be very much the same, say if you were using 32mm compared to 40mm? you would still get to a point where you were either turning it to much or not enough.

Yes there is a ball valve, sucks though, hard to fine tune, either to high or to low.

not to sure will look later. about 4000 - 5000ltr i think.

i used this to make the base of the riser tube. It worked well, lots of other ways of doing it though heat the acrylic up, slap it on, and clamp it down.

I made most og them with a router, got some of the discs laser cut. Tube came from universal plastics. The plumbing came from bunnings :lol:

I got bored so i decided to make myself a skimmer. Total height is 750mm Main chamber is 250mm acrylic tubing. All the parts were either laser cut or routed on my bench. I am using a sedra 9000 pump i got some time back. Pictures are 12hours after turing the skimmer on. Still a bit of fine tuning to be done. making the collection cup cap.

thats right, but some people can only go so high in there cabnet. if you get the water going into the chamber the right way you will increase contact time.
