I got bored so i decided to make myself a skimmer. Total height is 750mm Main chamber is 250mm acrylic tubing. All the parts were either laser cut or routed on my bench. I am using a sedra 9000 pump i got some time back. Pictures are 12hours after turing the skimmer on. Still a bit of fine tuning to be done. Bad photos, was quite dark when i took them. I will be putting more photos up in the DIY forum when i get a chance.

Does anyone know what glue you would use to glue pvc to acrylic? I am thinking of either weld on 40 or innotec marine epoxy (same as deltec uses) Can you get this innotec stuff in NZ?????

what grade of ply do you want ? CD DD marine ???

I have found that when you get sheets laminated (pilk) they have not been lined up to well, i wouldn't make a tank out of laminated glass, but if this is just for a front panel then it should be sweet.

You could try electra (smiths commercial) or builders hardware, i will try them on tuesday for you. You could use a double thickness of say 12mm ish, cut the base into three bits and then put the top on in two bits, so you have a nice big over lap. You should be able to get these sheets at about 45 +gst. By the way, that glass price was the best one. And glasstec can't get 12mm low Fe.
