    Kuda Seahorse

I would add a skimmer and as well as or instead of get some branching coral bit for the seahorses to hang on. I also think that tank would be to low, as you would know they need height more than length.
  2. No need to worry. Just give a quick rinse with water. On a side mote i get buckets from supermarkets that have had syrups etc in them. They will give them to you to if you speak nicely to them. Good strong buckets.
  3. I would be keen on sponge filters or box filters
  4. Good price, have not used those ones. The ones i have cost me about $100 each and are a single cup. Main thing would be to make sure they have a good seal before lifting, also keep the pad clean, any grime or dust could cause them to loose there suction.
  5. Can be fine when young but as they mature you can have problems.
  6. I would buy the replacement tubes from a pet shop, would be cheaper than the acrylic tubing.
  7. sure, don't see why not, thats how you get electricity from down here now
  8. Well the newer ones are, alot of the older ones are quite shallow.
  9. I wouldn't worry to much, 0.5ppm in the res means it will be much lower in the reticulation, any one living below the huntsbury res may have noticed it but when it hits the flat it will be mixed in with water from another 4 - 5 wells. Not a christchurch wide issue as stated in the paper but a isolated issue around Huntsbury hill.
  10. How are the fry getting on?

    Low Ph a problem?

This answers the question, go back to what you were doing. High bioload with not much water being changed = low ph. I would think this would be because of a ph shock, not introducing them quite right. Dainos will take that ph but need to adapt to it slowly.
  12. 9-10 years ago they were around $180 each, so $70 in private hands could be right.
  13. You wouldn't need to setup another tank, you could use a ice cream container. Maybe when i pick some white worms up i could show you.

    Peat for Mop Spawners

    Ok, will try it.
  15. What other fish do you have. Did you want to try egg layers or livebearers.

    Peat for Mop Spawners

Would leaving them longer cause any problems?
  17. As above as well as crushed up dog food. Its free when you get the sample bags from a pet shop.
  18. I have been using a method suggested by Barrie. Im sure he is not the only one that does this. My question is how long could i leave the eggs in the peat, could you collected eggs for a week or two and then hatch two weeks later so you get larger batches? Any info would be great
  19. Its a judgment call, hard to explain with words. If they are getting enough the will live. Make sure when you add the drops you mix it thru the tank a bit. After a few days start fe4eding bs, then you will be able to see full bellys.
  20. This kind of thing is done to get these sorts of fish, you may find the young don't turn out to look anything like the parents. To get flowerehorns in the first place there has been a lot of cross breeding. Your call really, some are happy to do it some are not. The purists, i would have thought, would not buy flowerhorns in the first place. Same with parrotfish to.
  21. This hybrid is thought to be the end product of cross breeding between the Cichlasoma Trimaculatus, Cichlasoma Festae, Jingang Blood Parrot, and others. Flower Horn Fish have gone through a lot of selective cross breeding in order to have the best characteristics of the respective strains of the Cichlid family. So what you are seeing could be right. Male female? Who knows
  22. I have crossed leopards with zebras, not trying to. Zebra jumped accross to breeding tank. The result was basically a zebra with the blue lines lighter at the bottom and spots on the bottom half. Not very bright. About 100 were put down.
  23. I have a 2217 on my tank and thats about 250ltr. Would like a smaller one. One of the nicest tanks i ever saw was a 6x3x2 with no filter heaps of plants and about 25 discus. Amazing
