    Tank build

Costs about $30 now, they have added admin costs of about $20.00  I used bar mesh stools. Cost around $0.50 each. In my other tank i only had 5 points touching the ground. I found them better than the egg crate. Size was 1200 x 950 x 800, you can just make on of them out on the back left. All covered in algae.

Basically just glass round the edges and no centre brace.

    Planted Aquarium

I buy it by the box (20). The brand is sika used to be fosroc.
  5. I would transport it on its base not the rear panel, as it has been built to sit like that.

Think discus would be to big for the tank, would like a school of smaller fish. Killis will be an option. Did find some wood at the other branch evil elmo, $11.00 pretty cheap.

    SAND CLEANER

Than can also be hard to feed as the sift through the sand looking for meaty type foods. Get a small one
  9. Euro bracing is a brace around the outside edge of an aquarium. Say some 10mm glass about 50-60mm wide all around the tank. Simple terms this

piranha, no. They are in the tank out back. Killis would look good. My instructions are to put something bright. Would like some discus but a bit unsure after a chat the other day.
  12. I had a tank come in last week, MH broke the centre brace. Just replace the whole brace.

    Planted Aquarium

There is no need for a centre brace, it has euro bracing and is only 500mm tall 10mm glass. Not 100% sure on the stand, some kind of laminate

Thanks. Bit more work but worth it i think. Stand was $100 from memory, they are going out of that range so may not be to many left.

    Planted Aquarium

So i built a new aquarium for the house. The size is 1000 x 500 x 500 black silcone and euro bracing. I brought this stand from The Warehouse to match our TV unit. Sits very low but works well where it is sitting. Aquarium being built Aquarium on Stand 30mins after setup Water level will be topped up in a few days. I thought the driftwood would sink but not to be. Almost there just not bedded down yet. Substrate is Daltons Aquatic Mix (15mm) and Daltons Pumice Mix (35 - 45mm) Discussed in another thread.

    Daltons Pumice mix

Couple of photos of the mix i got. Looks darker than it is. Setup in the tank. Looks pretty good. Down side to it is that it is quite light, this may be because there is still trapped air below. I am hopeing it will get better with time. None floated to the top. There is also a fine mix of some other types of stone/gravel which are quite a nice contrast to the gravel.

Thanks Phil, that helps. Will try to post a photo shortly

    Daltons Pumice mix

It is round in shape, pumice is a bit like sand paper i spose but there are other substrates that could be worse, really sharp edges etc.

    Daltons Pumice mix

May do, the only problem i see is that it will be light so may be able to get pushed around a bit by fish and current. Just hope it will hold the aquatic mix down.

    Daltons Pumice mix

Thats what i am trying to find out. Its not as dence as gravel, so will help with overall weight may even help with the filtration as there would be a larger surface area for bacteria to grow on. Also can't find any other good substrate without spending a heap.

    Daltons Pumice mix

Pumice will if it is dry. It will also sink if wet. Wanted to find out if anyone is using it and what they think of it.
  24. Has anyone used this as a substrate?
