  1. Where did the cardinals come from, i lost 10 a month or so ago to, did not cause problems with any other fish.
  2. I wouldn't have thought the bacterial levels would be a problem from the cylinder. Some older houses have copper pipes and copper in their cylinder however i think these levels would be so low it would not cause a problem. Personally i have used water from my cylinder for my marine tank with no problems, you would see problems with the corals before fish but never had an issue.
  3. Best place for a room, get some poly and wrap with plastic and your away..
  4. You would need a thermostat, just by standard heaters.
  5. I am planning on using a large air pump connected to 15mm pvc pipe, then drill holes above each tank and add a 6mm rubber gromet and push in some 6mm airline tubing to go to each filter. Found this to be a good option as some of the gang valves can get a bit dear. The gromets cost about 40c from memory plust the cost of pipe and fittings to the pump. Box or sponge filters can be brought from a shop
  6. The tanks im doing at the moment will be all filtered using sponges and box filters with a central air pump, cheapest way of doing it to. This way along with water changes will be just as good as other types of filtration.

    killie eggs

The problem i had is that they were eyeing up but not hatching. I added a good bunch of micro worms to the eggs in a small vial, put in pocket and a good number hatched within the hour. I wouldn't put them into the main egg container as the worms could drop and stuff the water.
  8. No problem will have to see if i can find some of the other one then. Thanks
  9. Thanks, do you know about the furan 2?
  10. Do you have the dose rate for either option?
  11. Eheim have a liquid doser jsut for this. Otherwise dosing pumps that are used for marine tanks would be ideal.

    stableising ph

This may also help, is related to saltwater tanks but could be used on freshwater. Take a look at compare the two recipes and the the Alk part for both. http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2006- ... ndex.php#2
  13. The tank may not be perfectly square so 2mm might not be enough, can a suggest you do them on a slight angle and maybe make the dividers from thin plastic so they can bend in an arc from fron to back thus holding themselves in place.
  14. Been looking at a few sites from all over but would like to know your picks?
  15. The one that did the tank at Wellington airport i think?
  16. Water marks can be a carbonate based type mark. You can used a light acid or a brand new sharp razor blade.

    killie eggs

You could try putting the eggs in a small pill container say 20 - 30ml. Add some micro worms and about 1/2 full with water. Put them in your pocket and carry on with whatever you were doing. Check every 30mins or so for fry. Don't leave more than about 4 hrs, if still not hatching put back where they came from. Worked for me, was the only way i got any scheeli out.
  18. Advantages You can shape it easily Weight Better Clarity on the tanks that require thick glass/acrylic You can build much larger tanks compared to glass that would max out at about 900 - 1000tall. and it doesn't chip if you hit a corner on the garage floor Downside It scratches easy, even when your not touching it

    CHCH water PH?

Where do you live? Will also depend on what station is running. Don't know of any station that get ph round 8, Could there be an error with the kit?

    Raising PH?

6.8 - 7.5 could be the difference in a good and bad test kit. Ph is pretty hard to get an accurate result at the best of times. Keeping it stable would be more important IMO. A bit of shell would be fine, or do more water changes.
