  2. well its not just you who is stressing, generally clamped fins in guppy's are cuase by either poor water quality or more than likely stress. I suggest either you move them to there own tank or remove the other fish from there tank, wateva could be stressing them? Shae 250
  3. Gutting an arowana, sad as! Shae 250
  4. Welcome to the site, but im sure ive already said this to you somewer?? hmmmm...... Shae 250
  5. Welcome to the site, here we are generally quite a positive community of hobbyists. Forget the retard that upset you, obviously you have been keeping and breeding absolutly beautiful bettas so you must be doing something right i would not challenge your methods. Cheers Shae 250
  6. at the momment we have sett it up for beta users only, only specific ppl are aloud to access it, we are just working out some bugs. and then it will be open to all nzka members. It seems as if common killies (yet to be classified) will be aloud to be traded over the killiexchnage by non-members but that is yet to be discussed in full detail. Shae 250
  7. WHAT???? silver sharks are not harmless! Shae 250
  8. Angels might be good? another fish i could reccomend would be discus? it depends on what sort of theme you want for your community tank. Shae 250
  9. the Co2 will drop ur PH. why not get some alage eating fish? Shae 250
  10. hmm........that sinteresting i have heard of stories, such as...... .....there was two type of platy both the normal wild green viraiety, both lived in absolutle trancualty, but 100's of miles apart, then scientists found these untouched fish, and put a male and female of each type into the same tank. from this we have all the different coloured platy today. evadenatlly, if this is true, i would assume be the same for guppy. however i doubt you will find such a guppy in nz, because of adaptation to our waters, so there colour shape finaige etc might have changed. 11. Am quite upset about this, and have know decided "Stuff It" and have left all the guppys in a tank to do wateva they want. The killies have know taken priority over my tanks. Bit of a shame really Quite gutted Shae 250
  12. danio fry are un believable small, there like slithers of glass in the water. when they start schooling together it looks really amazing, how much would you estimate you have Cees? Shae 250
  13. Something very inetresting, has happened in my Red line of guppy, in the offspring. I have noticed two females have green tales and bodies. I was quite surprised to see this. also a couple of males are purple. I removed them as soon as i saw this they are now in my community tank. all the rest of the fry are fine and have followed the strain. I am a bit annoyed at this, and have a feeling i might have to start the line all over again. As when i was moving the tank out to the garage, i had all my guppys in one tank. It seems they mixed faster than i thought. Shae 250
  14. if you dont have a marine tank but are planning one would you still be able to join? cause if that the case and it aint on the KMAC meetings then i will join. Cheers Shae 250
  15. would it get rid of brown alage? is there anyway of getting rid of it? a fish that eats it? and harmless medcate that would do the trick? Shae 250
  16. 2 foot tank is fine, as Alan has said a 200x200x300 is the size of most of his tanks. tempreture requirment vary between species, but i have 4 different types of killies and there all at 24c I would suggest any sort of filter that does 180lph-300lph With a bit of guidence you could keep most killies, but i would suggest a good starter killie, to be either the linetus or the scheeli, both are not expensive nor hard to get. The scheeli is slightly rarer. the 2 foot tank as it will be about 56l must have a full lid, killies like attempting flight everynow and then you'll only need a trio (male + 2 females) to get started and from there you can bring up your own young. they breed more or less continously, and need a varied diet, preferably live food, but will take flake food without complaint. the better you feed them the more eggs and growth you get out of them. Shae 250
  17. at first no, but the guppy fry mature alot faster than platy, swordy and mollie fry, so you will have to seperate them eventually, so the swordtail fry doesnt get eatin, i never had much success with swordy's so good luck. cheers shae 250
  18. hmm....would be interested if you could get killies? Welcome to the site. Shae 250
  19. I have my music up blasting and my fish dont seem to notice it. Shae 250
  20. Very nice tank,as yet i do not have a communtiy tank setup but will change that soon. I would not reccommend double dossing on the Flourish, If you look at the bottle it says "DO NOT OVER DOSS", as it could be fatal to your fish, i spose you have to ask yourself, would you rather kill your fish to get good growth outta your plants, or keep your fish, but get little growth outta them? i would go with the standard doss per 40l. Cheers Shae 250
