  1. Thanks Caryl I have just talked to three different people, one of them being Stuart Lord, and all of them have said the same thing. the smartest, most cost effective way to go would be heating pads, as heat rises etc etc ( cant be bothered going into further detail as i have got myself worked up and stressed after being told, "bad" information about heating pads) Stuart also, to my surprise said "do you know Caryl Simpson, she would be the person to talk to and alot more knowlagble than me on the subject"!! One thing he did stress though was get a good thermometer that has a dial to control the temperature. Looks like you certainly are popular Caryl Every article i have read on heating pads suggests the above, that heating pads use slightly less power than aquarium water heaters, and even though are harder to find and cost more would be cheaper in the long run. that was why i was so surprised as were the people i have talked to, when they were told some of the commments in regards to heating pads effecciacny. MAN was i stressing!! Cheers Shae 250
  2. becuase the dividers are going to be giving it strength as it is only going to be made of 6mm glass. Shae 250
  3. thats tank only, then your looking at a canister filter, heater, gravel, light, stand and any other gear i havnt thought of. Shae 250
  4. This completly stuffs up my plans. I dont want seperate tanks Alan, I just want one big one, a whole tone of smaller ones are going to cost more, I might in future change my mind and resort to smaller tank. however the tank has already been ordered. Lets stay of the subject of what type of tank i have! all i need to know is what is the best and most cost effective way to heat it. I do not really want to be buying a whole tone of heaters, that is going to cost me alot of money, and then i will also have the problem of tonnes of cords. cascading is out of the question i could not do it with this tank. and heating the garage would be useless because it is not insulated. supposely, contrary to what i read, heating pads are not effective and cost more to run. I am out of options and know am in a very tight spot. Shae 250
  5. To me they look nothing like guppy!!! its called a gonopodium. which is essentaily there willie. Shae 250
  6. That is the exact oppostie to what ive read, they are spose to be really expensive but use less power! What i mean by cost effectiveness is i need to use less electicty. Shae 250
  7. i was under the impression that a heating pad would be more cost effective? Shae 250
  8. Profanity Edited. LB... This is your final warning Wow, that really stuffs up my plans!!! I hope your wrong Ira. Shae 250
  9. just manily for the price i would not reccomend them considering you could get a bigger setup for the same price, although they do have slighty more asthetic value i spose. I have not owned nor will own one so can not tell you from experince what they are like. Shae 250
  10. leapord fish are different in shape, size, colour and finage to guppys Ira! they are small livebearers, with spots, and can adapt to both coldwater and warm water. they are neither catfish nor danios all the fish mentions would go fine with angels and catfish. Shae 250
  11. well im hoping you guys can get it to me soon cuz i just ordered a 1500mm x 300mm x 300mm with four partions at every foot, so essentialy it is five 27l tanks, for my killies. I intend to bye a big air-pump, then have a 5 valve, gang valve off it running either corner filters or spong box filters in each of the partions. know my main delima is heating, so if you can get that info to me as soon as possible please it would be very helpful. Is a heating pad cheaper in electicity than 5 small heaters? becuase i intend on about 4 of this style tank. Cheers Shae 250
  12. here is a site for a DIY CO2 reactor You could make one for practicaly ntohing. http://www.sydneycichlid.com/diy/diyyeast.html Dont bother buying one, too expensive for what they are when this can do the same thing! Shae 250

He/She sells baby guppys at reduculous prices and claims them to be Show Guppies and there only babies aswell! $20 for 6 crappy baby guppys is way over the top!! atleast with her new listing He/She sells them as tropical guppys, but still at the same price and still as babys!! Im not surpised as a resulte she hasnt sold any for a while though Shae 250

  17. I lived in auckland for 2 years, and after moving there from wellington, could nto stand the water, i feel sorry for humans that consume it let alone fish, i am surprised you do not have death after death after death, is your water filtered? Remember Auckland is know the 3rd most poluted city for its size in the world! I would never ever drink auckland water again. Then again go to australia and try there water  we lived in melbourne for a year and while there went through ruffly 200 external filters, even with the filters for us to cope with the tast of the water we bought consintrate to add a few drops to our cups. Other than that we tended to buy about 100l of spring water a week. and we lived outside the city in Mont Marnecy/Eltham. Cheers Shae 250

  20. I have always used Stress Coat and Stress Zyme, mainly becuase our water is chlorinated and filtered. so its just a precaution on my part. the only real problem with my water is latley the ph has been quite high. Shae 250
