  1. to fix the tail i would suggest malifix.
  2. The brown stuff is called tanin, you should be able to filter it out through your powerhead. Do you have a heater in this tank? what temp is it at? i would advice removing the goldfish, they will get bigger, and also easly become sick when in tropical temps. I knife fish would probably be fine, just remember they grow quiet big. What are the stats of your setup? Shae
  3. You dont want to know, that boy is so hard to get hold of it isnt funny! Timothy were are you?? Shae

  5. hard to tell by those pics, but Id say Female guppy. Shae
  6. if your feeding in a barebottom tank i suggest you feed huge amounts of BBS to ur guppy fry, i have been feeding 16 guppy frysolid BBS twice a day, in huge amounts for growth experiments, they are in a 300x300x200 tank and are 2 weeks old, 2cm long and already have most of there colour! Shae
  7. I find the less i care about the fish when traveling, the more it tends to survive, the more i care and worry, the more i lose. Murphys law. Shae
  8. Get some convicts! Its real cool watching them crush the shells, and eat the snails!! Caryl dont comment Shae
  9. some tanks will have powerfilters, other will just be water changes. most will be sponge or corner filters. Thanks for that BK i will have to check it out. Shae
  10. Thanks Chimera, that sounds much cheaper too, will look into it, No i do not need a permit, at the momment 1.2m wide is all i have to use, and thats enough room for me no problems, however i will talk to my dad about making it wider, and perhaps having the MG on thats side of the Garage as it is much smaller than the Jeep. I've been thinking about lighting Caryl, and have decided i will put in some sought of lighting for each teir. Shae

  14. I thought the DIY section was as good as any to post his in. Some of you may already know this but i am biulding a fishroom. the stats are as follows: 2.6mx 1.2m in size along both walls will be 2x 2m, 3 teir steels stands, of which i have already purchased the steel. Along the back wall will be a 1m, 3 tier steel stand. In total about 42 tanks, the stands are only 30cm wide. The room will be fully insualted with Batts and insulation Gib, then water proof paint. I intend to heat the room just useing the aquarium heaters i already have along wth all the lighting. There will be a luver sp? like system in the roof for cooling. Im just wondering if anyone could give me some advice or giudelines as to anything i should add, or change? Cheers Shae
  15. filtration and airation wouldnt be to much of an usue if you did daily water changes, however i have seen battery powered pumps that could run a sponge filter etc, at wet pets, also i would use one of those heater/cooler things that connect into your smoking peice in your car its like a chilly bin but it does hot also, you can get them from super cheap auto, you can set the temp on those for tropical fish, and i would chuck in a heap of plant, gives them a place to hide adds oxygen makes them feel more comfotable. Shae
  16. Ultimatley Gir it is up to you, if you like plastic plants then go for it, if you like live plants then go for that, you could even have a mix of both, I would suggest Live plants, because of the above that humming bird posted, plus the fact that you can grow them and propogate them yourself. but as i say, your tank you do what you like. Shae
  17. I dont know what others think but i just get boiling water in a bucket and run the powerhead in it for 30 seconds and they seem to be fine. Shae
  18. Yeah looks like a Swordtail cross
  19. you missed out the "s" Caryl When swordtails are crossbreed with platy you get shortened swords and duller colours, if possible, keep them apart, however most platy and swordtail have already been crossbreed if you could trace there genetics back. I am something of a hipocrit sp I keep swordtails with platy. Shae
