  1. Well a little while ago after my male scheeli jumped i was left with one female, i had put the 2 eggs that didnt fungaside from them into a tank to let them hatch, unfortunatly they just did a disapearing act on me and i never saw them or any fry again, so with them gone i decided to hatch some korthause in there which i did, I got a very small hatching off what i thought was 5 korthause in the tank, so the last month i have been growing them up, now there about 2cm long and i had not really looked at them hard enough to deferentaite sex. so this morning when i looked a them closely i was really surprised to see two 2cm scheeli in there swimming along happily with the korthause. hopefully one of the scheeli is a male and then i can start breeding them again :D Shae
  2. i have some jude if your interested in a swap? Shae
  3. I very much doubt a swim bladder problem, You say she is pregnant and just like woman of our species pregnancy is stressful for them, along with a male who never stops wanting it. This causes problems with females that i have seen heaps, From the condition of the head pointed up and the tail down, also you should notcie her anal fins are clamped, i have had a very low rate of suvival at this point. I would suggest you remove her to a tank on her own or withother females and feed her up as much as possible with live foods. Shae
  4. i wouldnt mind a few of the plecs brain put up. can you get those kyle? Shae
  5. Try some melafix on the surviving fish Cat, That really sucks, I really like elephant noses. Shae
  6. Sorry about the confusion, i dont think it is a common term, Stuart Lord and i use it, its when you put a few drops of water from an eyedroppper into a culture, and then suck out the milky water out with the eyedroppper. Shae
  7. I was thinking the exact same thing? they look nothing like pugs, pugs for one are dogs that walk on earth and breath air, along with pushed in faces, and i think they are rather cute. Shae
  8. I keep three of my tanks at 22c, quite in the acceptable limits of tropcial tempertaures.
  9. I would have thought between 22-28 would be the majority. Shae
  10. Couldnt have said it better myself. I hate to tell you this Staplez but Guppies in coldwater End up having a multitude of problems of which some are slow growth, immune system lowered, Shorter lifespans and they will quickly revert back to an ugly wild colour form. Shae
  11. There big enough for microworm milk, Other than that Green water does the trick. Suggestion, instead of moving them onto livebearer/egglayer liquid/ flake Id use BBS. Cheers Shae
  12. Thanks Phillz and Steve, Will post some pictures if all goes well, When my dad gets back from Seatle in a few weeks. Cheers Shae
  13. Thanks KM It should be a challenge, as this tank is filled with guppys, platy, pearl gouramis, other convicts, BN's, swordtails and angels. Shae
  14. Dam, Wet Pets has a whole heap of those in there tanks at the mo, Should have looked at the name longer then maybe i would have rememberd it, where did you buy it from? Shae
  15. Well the day before the BBQ at judes, Tim (Newtman) and Anthony (Critter_Guy) came to stay at my place. When Tim arrived he took one look at my tank and said "mate did you know your convicts have spawned" To my surprise i looked into the back of a Terrocota (sp) pot and saw about a hundred small eggs of which a male was fanning. The reason i had not noticed them is mainly for the fact that i never check my community tank, I just feed them, do water changes etc and leave them be. Anyways the day i came home from Judes BBQ I saw that half where missing, this didtn dampin my spirits as the male was still rigorasly protecting and fanning the eggs. What was strange is that the only other fish that was aloud to go into the pot and was also keeping the other fish at a distance was another male. It seemed as if they had some sought of bond and both of them where protecting the eggs. Today i got home from my trip to Palmy, Had great fun up on the Farm (hunting, Clay Bird Shooting, Motorbike racing etc etc), I stoppped by Wet pets for a quick visit (2 hour stop :D) And picked up 3 female kribs and 1 male along with some other gear and peat i needed. Anyways When i arrived home I looked into my communtiy tank and what do i see?? about 40 Wrigglers, of which both males are still protecting vigourasly. Unfotunatly one of the males keeped loseing some out the front of the terrocata pot and was spending half his time retreiving them. Personaly i really like Convicts although alot of people dont. And am very surprised they have breed considering they are only babies themselves. It appears as if i have a couple of other spawnings of the on the way. So it looks like i just found a good source of live food if not anything else Cheers Shae
  16. Thats so cool, i love it when cichlids that look after there young breed. Its cute watching there parental instincts. Shae
