  1. I am at fault and originally posted the picture not the link. I had forgotten about the permission needed to do so as i was very busy an pre-occupied, when i came back to the post Pegases had given me a warning, and i promtley changed the picture to a link. Shae
  2. Alan could you tell me when you've got some australe eggs? Id be keen to grab some off you, if you have some give me a pm to discus? I've been looking for some for ages, there very beautiful and so content, from what i have seen of them they seem like very gentle killies. Shae
  3. Yeah i was interested, but i also wanted to see all your other gear. Shae
  4. Now someone needs to explain, what you need to do to the main tank to get the water transfer from there into the sump, cuz i dont even get that bit? Shae
  5. http://web.tiscali.it/acquario2000/images/platy.JPG Male is the top, female is the bottom, notice the difference in anal fins. Shae
  6. It has nothing to do with colour or size, the female has a normal anal fin and the male has a small pointed one close to the body, that can be moved in any direction, it is called a gonopodium and is affectivly the male platy's genital. Shae
  7. woah that sounds really cool!! Will do! Shae
  8. step back a sec and look at all this from a noobs perspective, half the stuff you guys say hes not going to understand. I mean i only just found a site explaining exactly what a sump was and how to go about making one 10 mins ago. Now i think i will add a sump to my nano. But what im trying to say is explain in full detail what you mean, when explaining to someone who want to start out and doesnt have a clue where to start. Shae
  9. I have been there and seen there stuff and it had big chunks of bark through it. Shae
  10. Or even some peat i can buy off some1 down here?
  11. Where is the best place in Wellington to buy fine peat, i dont want the barky stuff, just really fine Peat as i know have a few peat spawners(Nothobranchius Palmaqusti, Nothobranchius Korthause, Simpsonichthis consansiae) and only have a tiny bit of peat left, but i dont know were to go to buy it as i was given it. 12. I relise that, and dont worry you arnt in any trouble
  13. tedchnically were not aloud to say anythign bad about products on the site so i will tell yuo what i find useful. Stress Coat- i buy in bulk and use it as a dechlorinater and also gets rid of heavy metal in the water etc, also adds a slim that acts like a protective layer on the fishes scales that helps lessong stress. Stress Zyme- i also buy in bulk and along with Stress Coat adds millions of healthy bacteria that gets ur tank healthy and good balance of water perameters in no time, perfect for speeding up the cycling peroid. Flourish excel- my plants grow like mad with on it, it also keeps algae away or at least managable. Mellafix- Perfect medacine for fish, stops fin rot, and repairs broken fins very quickly. In my opinion the best medicate for fish with white spot is de-iodinised salt (i think thats what it is, som1 correct me if im wrong). Shae
  14. I dont think there is any specific age or size at which danios are ready to breed, but i suggest you do is get the fattest females and a couple of males put them in a tank with marbles in the bottom, (put them in at night) then in the morning as soon as the sun hits they will go into spawning mode and you could get hundreds of eggs, leave them in there for only an hour or so at the most, because eventually they lose interest and will try to eat the eggs through the marbles. put them back into the tank feed them up and let them rest a bit, wait between 1-3 days and whala! hundreds of fry! Now feed them with green water and once big enough microworms or BBS. Shae
  15. Your livebearers will not get mad cow disease or any disease for that matter from there fry. Flake is sufficient to keep life in the tank, if you really want to keep them healthy, get live foods, such as daphnia, white worms, microworms and Brine shrimp. Also frosen foods such as bloodworms are good. The above food will get your fish into breeding condition and keep them very happy and healthy. Shae
  16. weekly 25% water changes are a must! along with gravel siphon the gravel, as it is a small tank amonia will biuld up quickly. you dont want that. If ur PH is too high and a water change doesnt fix it, go buy some PH down and read the intructions as to how to treat. Shae
  17. are soon to be salties aloud to come? Shae
  18. My apologise, I agree with you 100% there Rob. Shae
  19. well i have a bit of a mixture of the red ramshorns and the brown ones, and they breed like mad! i have not had them eat very much vegetation. Shae
  20. I tried Malkon but didn't have a lot of luck with it.
  21. as said above, mollies grow to the size of suitable water, if you get them small and young and put them in a small volume of water they will not out grow the tank. however swordtails are another story, unless you go with a neon swordtail which stay quiet small. also i suggest you only have 1 male to 3 females at the least! because there is such a small amount of water it will be hard for the females to avade the male, this way the more females there are the more atention is divided between them. Shae
  22. Clown laoches, but convicts will eat snails aswell, i love watching mine pull them off the glass take them down to the gravel and attempt to het at the snail by putting there heat in the shell. It looks so cute! Shae
  23. Gutted, i have seen fish like these for $30 in animates. Shae
