  1. put a mark on the water line now, come back in an hour and see if the water line has moved. If you do have a leak your going to have to find it, move everything in the tank away from it. get a blob of silicon on your finger, then smear it on the inside were the silicon has begun to leak, it will dry in the water, and should be aqaurium safe. But as said dont panick until your sure its a leak. Shae
  2. Thats very interesting, Ive found with almost every fish i have bred that they all respond best to copious amounts of White worms. however i have never tryed beef heart or liver tucker. I just had a look at my spawning traps, and see that, the female of yours is quiet average size, so well done on 118 fry! I think i will have to start fiddling around again and see if i can beat your record The problem is supplying the fry with enough food, to keep them growing at a fast pace! BBS is the best for this. Shae
  3. Caper there are alot of plants out there that a re really easy to keep, do you have lighting on your tank? Shae
  4. Why not just crush them and give free food to ur fish? thats what do. Shae
  5. I have about 20 tanks without them, i think you'll find everything will be fine. Shae
  6. Sounds like dropsy to me, remove it into a floating container, and do not reuse any water from it back into ur main tank. Shae
  7. Most likeley a swim bladder problem, aslong as hes eating would worry to much, Hes is most likley a he if he is smaller than the other two, is he skinny? and do the other two have slightly prodruding stomachs or rounded stomahcs. Shae
  8. Its all in the name mate, Join and have a look. http://www.poecilia.net.nz Shae
  9. Your pet store Doesnt know what ther talking about. Black neons get the line alot more early on in there lives than the semi adult tetra you have there. I took some pictures of my Black neons with the flash on and no aqaurium light and they looks like urs, so i would now have to say, yes they probably are Black neons. Shae
  10. Im sure your wisdom would be a positive attribute Jude. People of poecilia, if you could be so kind to take 2 minutes out of ur busy lives and pop onto the site to check on the unfortunate updates that are happeneing, it would be muchly apprecitaed. ALL input welcome, it seems the Ballistic vs Vampire dio are doing most of the work and i dont think that is very fair. Shae
  11. Nothobranchius Palmqvisti, not Guentheri. I think ive already Explained to Shiush but he musnt have passe don the info. Like ive said the best way to condition your females is to chuck heaps and heaps of live and frozen foods into them. Female Nothobranchius stomachs should always look like there going to burst! this way they are more than happy to breed with the males and release there eggs to lessn the pressure on there bodies, and with so much livefood being packed into them there produceing heaps and heaps of eggs. There is never a breeding period. Just aslong as ur females are always well fed they will always breed. Remember the small container or drowned peat! because they are peat spawners. The lineatus and Albino gardneri are different, personaly i havnt had any experience with the albino gardneri but i would think the jsts of it are very similair. Keep all the fish well fed, preferably in a bare bottom tank, with a big mop. Check the mops when desired, for eggs. Remember they hatch in about 2 weeks. Shae
  12. Firstly it would be nice to know what species you have, then we can determine wether mop or peat spawning is more appropriate. Shae
  13. Please elaborate, I have never seen or heard of Ribbon Tail Guppys. Shae
  14. Point me in the direction of one! i dont care what the price is there stunners! Shae
  15. Unless your prepared to pay big bucks to source them yourself, i would suggest you do what alot of people have done, and strain breed the fish for yourself. Quiet often you can pick up guppies from a pet store that have multiple types of genes in them such as the cobra. Its just a matter of alot of time and tank space, heaps of research and you can do it urself. Shae
  16. Awsome, im first in-line for when they go on sale, especialy if they look like that! Shae
  17. Deffinatly Worth it! And i am jelous! Talk to Cees he has Females that would go with him perfectly! same red! and if you could breed them then you could share the glory bettas with us! Shae
  18. Neons= Egg Scatterers Shae
  19. condition your breeders with live and frozen foods Get a small tank, 25c, and a bubbler on very low. Cover the bottom in Java moss or artificail spawning plants, No Gravel Use fresh rain water only in the small tank, No water conditioner Add ur breeders to the tank for 24 hours after 24 hours remove the breeders. If you look carefully there should be small eggs all over the java moss and on the bottom of the tank, the ones that go white are infertile. Leave for another 24 hours or until you see very very small free swimming fry, then add Green water or luiqifry for the first week to two weeks after that they should be big enough for microworms and BBS. If this is unsuccesful, condition your breeders and try again after a week. Shae
