  1. Alrighty, so i am the only one that finds Ej's Spawnings so impressive. Shae
  2. Internally its 2.4m x 1.2m, Actualy Bill i oppted for the cheap yellow stuff that goes in the walls, but i spent the other money on aqualine Gib, which supposedly is a better insulater as well as being water proof. Shae
  3. Ok well heres some pics, Havnt takin any of it running yet, as the stands are not finished, and is looking rather messy. Ill get some more updated pics at some stage. Shae
  4. Well i think its more than Due for me to post these pics of my time up there, I went there with Stu, Thanks mate. Had a Great time, was really fun poking my nose into all soughts of places Meeting heaps of ppl, and having a good chat! This was inside, after the bisciuts and tea was served, everyone disappeared The venue This is Erlings beautiful Dog, We went to Erlings earlier that day While i was having a look in his fishroom, he showed me his Blue Ram, that are absolutly Stunning but what i was most impressed with was the size of the spawn they had, and you will be too when you look further down, i have been informed that he has had about 4 more of similair size since then! Cheers Shae
  5. The impeller will dispurse it sufficiently. Shae
  6. A much easyier way is to angle cut a peice of air hoseing, and place it inside the intake, that way you have 0% loss of Co2. Shae
  7. I have a good 30-60l of water in working condition, almost free, if you'd like, ill even dechlorinate it for you Shae
  8. Why are bolivians easier? If by German Rams, your Refering to Blue Ram, the i would have to disagree, Blue ram are far more colourful and beautiful than Bolivians and are as you say smaller, I've keeped bolivians and found them alot more agressive than the Blue Ram which i know keep in my Community tank. Shae
  9. Were do you live? Cuz if its in wellington then i have roughly 200 for sale. Shae
  10. I doubt that theory, especially with swordtails, as if there is a lesser of one sex, they can and will change to suite. Shae
  11. Cant go past Keyholes. Shae
  12. What size are your fry? Male swordtail can quiet often be late bloomers. Shae
  13. I wouldnt worry, you have too many fish as we've already tryed to tell you, what worked for your dad, might not work for you, and you can deffinatly not have goldfish in there aswell, Obviously your dad had more success as it was a bigger tank otherwise he was very lucky, all the fry she and the platys will give birth to will be eatin by your other fish, your tank is seriously over crouded, and it is animal cruelty to keep 27 fish some of which will outgrow that tank by themselves in 56l of water. Shae
  14. My Advice dude, keep the Guppies and Platys there really good fish to start off with, and shoot the rest off somewhere or sell them. Cause there not going to be happy in a 2ft tank, with some of the neighbours they have, and your not going to be happy when they die and your moneys down the drain and you just lost a pet. With so many fish in a new tank your going to be having all amount of water perameter problems such as amonia sp. Best thing to do, is do some reading ask alot of questions, and then deside what your going to do, we can give you advice on Cylcing periods, what fish go together, and signs of sickness Etc. Theres a big wide world of information on this hobby out there buddy, the learning is honeslty neverending, and you've just stepped into a very interesting learning experience, and a really neat and highly kept hobby at that. 15. Male platy will hassle eachother aswell. There no such thing as Red Coral Platy to my knowlege, if it is complety red then it is a Crimson Platy, if it is completly red but has a largish dot and two other dots coming out from the base of its tail, then it is a mickey mouse Crimson. Shae
  16. Mines very much different, as with just an airstone not much Co2 is dispersed into the water, so there for its not very efficient. I either run the Co2 through the input of my external canister filter, the idea behind that is the impeller in the external canister and the movement of water causes the bubbles to disolve into the water, another idea is to have a cup or long tube plugged at one end, with a hole drilled at the bottom at which the air stone is put in place, and the Co2 rises into the tube and sits there and slowly disolves into the water, with a tap on your tubing you can control how much Co2 is added. 17. Dwarf Cichlids are a smaller species of cichlid, which i personaly love, as you can tend to keep more of them and more species in the same tank. There colours are awsome when there breeding. Keyholes are a very peaceful cichlids and do well in big community tanks, as they can grow quiet large. Shae

    Hi

Welcome to the Forum, Always good to have more outlanders on the site, although i think were a bit more downunder than you , four years ago i lived in australia, Melbourne, much different from NZ, must say i prefer NZ, but hey, New South Whales might be different. I luved the gold coast lived there for a few months, enjoyed myself immensly. Shae
  19. Welcome to the site, Wellington is the place to be, not as far as fish shops go but everything else (thats right you heard me JAFA's) Shae
  20. The more the heater clicks on and off and powers up the more elecetricity it sucks, so a 300watt heater will use more electricity to keep a 120l heated than a 200watt will. I would reccommend a External Canister Fluval 204 or 304 for your tank. Shae
  21. 200watt heater is smart, minimum filtration is 3x literage, so your looking at 360 LPH minimum, i personaly always like to go overboard on filtration, it generally means i can do less maintenence on the tank. Shae
