  1. Ay? Gobies can really push it when they want too. Shae
  2. Darn! Thats is a bit expensive per hole. So is it not possible to do what anth was going to do on his Return pump out to the spray bar and add something like a no return valve so the water doesnt go back into the sump? Shae
  3. Were do salties generally purchase all this gear from? Shae
  4. Hmm, Would it be possible to setup a close loop system but not use it until I can purchase a realy good pump? For instance, get the hole cut, and plumbing to the sump in but have it closed of until i have a pump to run it? cause im presuming you cant run the return and closeloop off on pump. I agree it would look nicer without Powerheads, and makes more sence for in the long run. Shae
  5. Im in the same boat as Anth, Not quiet as far as designing it on Paint though, so any helpful Newbie advice would be great Shae
  6. Thanks, I understand now. So would Powerheads or closed loops be better? Shae
  7. I didnt understand half that stuff, but hey sounds good. Closed loops have me confused? plz Enlighten. Shae
  8. Would this be better? The King - 3 :~ 110v/220v/240v Freq: 50/60hz Power: (w) 35 Output: (lift per hour) 2400 H-Max: 2.40 Dimensions: mm 185x80x110 Shae
  9. So what sort of Turn over Pump should i get for a 350l system? And would a King 2 be ok? The King - 2 :~ 110v/220v/240v Freq: 50/60hz Power: (w) 20 Output: (lift) 1000 H-Max: 1.95 Dimensions: mm 160x65x90 I dont know what these mean? Shae
  10. I wouldnt reckon they do much harm if any, But generally fish dont like them, Im surprised if they eat them, Supposedly they have an acidic mucus that Arnt good for fish. Shae
  11. Peter should be able to then. Shae
  12. Ok, so a Glazier Can drill holes in pre existing Tanks? Shae
  13. So is it possible to Rig a Sump system that doesnt need holes in tanks? Shae
  14. Well if were going to add Livestock, then names and prices should be Required to be more specific, not your estimates. Then the Aqauriest can choose what he/she is going to allow for livestock. Shae
  15. Thats kind of my point, People stock lists will be different and whos to says, Other than you, there going to spend $600? Shae
  16. Granted- I forgot nessecary $$ for a Skimmer and LR As ive said i dont think LiveStock should be added into the $$ as it varies for Aqauriests and Prices etc vary. Shae
  17. Cuz i dont know Prices, Brands, Availablitly, Reliability etc. Shae
  18. But if you DIY'd, Used what you already had OR bought second hand you could save alot of money aswell. Just for the sake of this Discussion, I know its going to get boo'd on but i dont care. For example. Tank-$0 ex-Freshwater Stand-$0 ex-Freshwater Sump tank-$0 ex-Freshwater Lighting- 2xFlouro $109.95 OR $60-$90 off trademe Return Pump- $150 Possibly Cheaper off Trademe Heating-2x200watt Heaters $40 Skimmer- Like i said i dont have a clue Nets- Lets Say $20 all up Magnets- Why would you need them? Cleaning the glass manualy is much more affective anyway. Saltwater/Freshwater-Both free Down here Plumbing-$100 Refractometer-$120 I dont know what this is but is it nessecary? Test kits (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH) $120- Possibly cheaper if you already Own. Gravel-$50 Evendentally Somewhere in the Visinity of $589.95 Anything i missed out? My 2 cents Shae
  19. So excluding the Skimmer That totals to around $1231.95. Shae
  20. Things must be more expensive in Christchurch. 4 foot tank can be made for $120 here, Steel stand $100-200 depending on who makes and who you buy the steel off. Thats a freakn expensive Skimmer? what brand? Why so much Rock? IF its a FO tank? Man, I can get Twin Flouro lighting for $109.95 Nets and magnets are expensive there! Animates have magnets for $12 at the mo. Nets $3-$10ea Depending on size 200 watt heaters are $20 from Hutt Pet (or were) So two of those would do the trick. Salt is free from the Sea. Most ppl already have some form of Test Kits. I thought there was some sought of Cycle period that you should wait until thats finished and everthying has stabilised before you add fish, Livestock prices shouldnt be added as it depends on the Aqauriest. Shae
  21. Im not sure on prices, But Clowns are something like $60ea, Ive seen Blue tangs for sale at $170. Sump would be smart for a FO setup Skimmer You dont need heavy lighting for FO or FOWLR setups? So if thats correct then T5's x2 Return pumps etc As said not sure on Prices, I was asking the same stuff. Shae
  22. for a FO tank what a waste. You want some more Fish than that. Clowns, Yellow tangs, Blue tangs, i dont know many other fish lol. Some sifters would be cool. Shae
  23. If you have LR, then Shouldnt this post be FOWLR? Shae
