  1. Ive never found the bottle method effective, i did try that to start with. Shae
  2. I would only suggest 4 triple fins, leaves room for other creatues, although its up to you, they can actually grow quite big. Unless you want to be cleaning the crust of the glass lid all the time i would remove it. The only reason i had a little fan was because i did not have a chiller, I had the power head setup so the water output would brake the surface slightly, and be cooled by the fan. I did water changes once every two weeks, and did a single freshwater top up every week. I used straight saltwater from Island bay so im not sure about salt mix, but im assuming done right you should'nt have an issue. In Summer, because it got hot, the fan was not enough. We have a big freezer in the garage so i just used to freeze salt water in ice cube trays and dump them in. Temp always sat nicely at 12c, which is what i wanted. Pene, are you diving or snorkling to capture this stuff? If you did, you would be able to catch a lot more than just the basic rockpool stuff. Thats how i got my sea slugs and other creatures. Shae
  3. When i had a Cold water marine the only crabs that ever survived where those ones that have all the seaweed etc growing on there body's, was awesome camouflage. All the others never lived long. I had a 100l tank, with rocks that had different types of sea plant and algae’s and little critters growing and living in or on it, I got a bunch of greyish gravel from the beach. I had a bunch of different colour triple fins, a bunch of different anemone’s (white, red, green, pink, orange). 10 Shrimp, a few flatworm type creatures and a black sea slug. A 15watt single fluro, a small 600LPH power head and a little fan that was faced downwards into the current. I also got a lot of Snails (kept the tank clean and also provided food if I crushed them) and those Velvet stars, which the crabs fed on. Shae
  4. Actually in some tanks ive seen it in it looks pretty dam....cool. Shae

  10. I wouldn't risk it. Add a heat pack. Send today if possible, Alan is right always send early days of the week. Shae
  11. I had a really good laugh at that even if you where serious its still funny. Mickey, remember there's so much more to life that you could get caught up on. I mean for example, things in your immediate and physical life. We are all just an online community, and it’s not worth being offended on here, nor showing pride, or anything else, because infact, no one cares. Just chill, and have fun. Shae
  12. I remember someone showing me this a while ago. I think you 'youngens' should take this to heart as I have. Remember the attitude used when typing is hard to perceive, so don't jump to conclusions and jump down peoples throats. Shae
  13. My name is Shae, and you've perceived this conversation totally wrong. I have picked no fights. Yes I told if you had been more specific it would be far easier to help you. But all you did was change from the question "how to I tell if my fish is pregnant" to "How do i breed bla bla fish". This is far to general of question and would take far to long to right up a suitable answer. Shae
  14. No Worries, It's always a shame when fish get sick. Secret is not to stress, things like this happen, the more you fuss over it, the more likley somthing bad will result. Shae
  15. If you look back through 'mickey-tropical-fish-mad's posts you will see that Dimsum has basically told him exactly what I told him earlier today. Why not take some initiative instead, and research on the internet, which I have also previously told him, with the information that has already been given to him. Makes complete sense to me. Shae
  16. Thus the reason for mentioning Island Bay. Shae
  17. Not entirly sure, i would add soem peat to the tank to act as a relaxant, then increase the silinity, and worse case use Cure-ex. Shae
  18. My Guess, Costia or Neon Disease, other than that might possibly be the beginning of pop eye. Shae
  19. Sell them on Trademe, give them away to a fellow keeper, or take them back to the shop. Shae
  20. There's no gurantee that they will settle down. But in general it might help, if i were you i would get rid of the rasboras. Shae
  21. Tahiti bay and Island Bay are alright for Diving. Go the marine obsevitory. Heaps of fun stuff to do in Wellington. Shae
