  1. If you read carefully, he says that the Mouth Fungus started first. Which means it is highly unlikely to be Tuberculosis; I personally doubt it was neon disease as well. IF all those infected, or dead, have Mouth Fungus. As Mentioned, “short tufts sprouting from the mouth like fungus, the toxins produced and the inability to eatâ€. Shae
  2. I think there is also a shelf bought pharmaceutical, called something along the lines of ‘anti-septic’, it’s in a small black bottle, $5.95 from Animates. Shae
  3. Description suggests to me cotton mouth or Mouth Fungus. Symptoms: White cottony patches around the mouth. It is actually caused from the bacterium Chondrococcus columnaris. It shows up first as a grey or white line around the lips and later as short tufts sprouting from the mouth like fungus. The toxins produced and the inability to eat will be fatal unless treated at an early stage. Penicillin at 10,000 units per litre is a very effective treatment. Treat with a second dose in two days. Or use chloromycetin, 10 to 20 mg per litre, with a second dose in two days. Shae
  4. Im sure there is something similair to that, grows abit longer though, in the storm water drain up the bush, back end of Stokes Valley.
  5. Also, Star Grass and Hair Grass. Does anyone know where to get hold of Glosso? Shae
  6. Then I suggest not doing a water change till a week or more depending on stocking, after you have purchased the fish. Shae
  7. Wondering if anyone out there has some Glossostigma elatinoides, and if theyd be willing to sell me some. Cheers Shae

  9. Yes, Got a nice big bunch the other day, courtesy of a fellow Wellingtonian hobbyist
  10. Wow, first a record with the Swordtails, now the Angels. Well done Paul. Shae
  11. Unless I am mistaken, most fish pharmaceuticals only kill white spot at its cyst stage. Salt is far less stressing on the fish and total environment of the tank, than treating it with chemicals. I have always found salt most effective in treating other people’s fish, along with increasing the temperature. Once the White spot has disappeared from the fish, do a large gravel clean to remove the remnants of the illness. Shae
  12. Doing a Similiar sought of thing with Christmas Moss, really cool effects. Shae
  13. Im Currently trying it in a lil 30l Plant tank Shiush, Just setting up the Co2 Injection, will be dosing with fertiliser etc, its a 1:1 ratio of peat and fine gravel base, found it works well for root growth in the past, Plus keeps the PH stable. No Fish setup. Shae
  14. It’s up to the Aquarist really. I’d have them on for at least 12 hours a day. Shae
  15. I think you'll find this is the proper URL
  16. Have you ever considered the fact that Bettas might just be less hardy? especially if there kept in conditions, such as you've mentioned, before being shipped off, And it is for this reason that they are sick, or perhaps, poor water conditions, attributed to the "bug's" they bring with them. Shae
  17. I tend to Agree with MSRkz. There names seem to cause a general misconception among a lot of aquarists, in the past I have kept males in with other males, no problems, most males infact, I find are quite placed. I hate to tell you this, but alot of fish, not just fighters "can" cary bug's and bacteria. This includes Discus. Thus the reason for qaurintine Shae
  18. Also when the White spot disappears do a 50% water change and a big Gravel Vacuum. Shae
  19. Although some might disagree with me, id use a teaspoon per 4 litres, so use roughly 30 or so tspns, dilute it in a cup or two of tank water as you go, and only add the salt gradually, over a day or two. Shae
  20. I agree with hummingbird, agazzi can be very aggresive, if i were you id lean more towards Blue and Golden Rams. Shae
  21. Increase tank to 28c, add rock salt. Dont use Chemicals to kill Whitespot it kills alot of the bacteria in the tank, essential for a stable healthy enviroment for your fish. Shae
  22. All my tanks Are either Completley 'Lidded', have glass braceing, or are far to small for a 5 foot lighting fixture to fall into. Plus all the Lights will be Securely Placed 30 cm above the tanks. Regards Shae
