  1. I agree with Suph, that looks like snails doing, rather than a pleco, if a pleco really wanted to eat it, it should have made a bigger mess of it than simply chewing the middle inside of the leaves, which i also cant imagine how they'd manage to do. Shae
  2. They chose to breed, its not up to me, i can't make them. Shae
  3. trying to show he's the alpha of the tank. Shae
  4. I continuously feed white worms in conjunction with Brine Shrimp, and i find it great for keeping my fish in constant breeding condition. Personally i think it's one of the best foods around. Cheers Shae
  5. I used Dwarf gouramies, i don't know if that would make a difference, however i have been told that both normal and dwarfs will do the job. I would think that it would be right through the system, if your running a sump like that, however the gouramies will keep it under control in whichever tank there in at the time. The only other way i got rid of them was to empty the tanks, and basically starve the hydra. took a month. probably not very conveniant though. I don't like to use chemicals, otherwise i might have resorted to such treatments like copper. Cheers Shae
  6. I used to have a problem with that, came in with some riccia from the south island. And the hydra only flared up when i fed bbs to fry. The way I got round it was to move the fry to a new untouched grow out tank, and put gourmies into the tank with the hydra, they cleaned them up nicley and after that i didnt have a problem in the tanks that used to have hydra anymore. Simple Cheers Shae
  7. ahhhhh the envy teems through my vains Thats Awesome Mate! Shae
  8. About a year back i used to have many killies in my fishroom aswell as a few other species of fish, unfortunatly i went on a 4 week trip away, and had to empty all my tanks, I loaned out many of these fish to a few people to breed/look after etc. Unfortunatly, upon returning various mishaps had taken place which meant i had no killifish left to speak of. I wasn't too worried as i had a couple bags of peat left that had been in there drying period, but after various wetting periods they bore no fry, which i was rather disappointed with. However i did get a bunch of betta returned, which then became my main focus. Now my fishroom is almost completly claired of Betta, i would like to get a species or two of killifish breeding strong in my tanks again. I've inquired round a little and it seems that readily available killifish that where about when i was breeding them are far harder to get now, seems there has been a general decline in those who have killifish in the first place. So my question is simply this, does anyone know of, have, selling, trading etc any, preferably, killifish eggs? If so, could you please pm me. Cheers Shae
  9. don't get annuals and non-annuals mixed up there meesheelly. The Golden Lineatus used to be quiet readily available, one of the more common species of killifish, but it seems there has been a decline in available species left in New Zealand now. There life span, as far as i remember is between 2-3 years. Shae
  10. Appears to be a young Aplocheilus lineatus Gold or Golden Wonder Killifish. Easy to care for, goes well in community tanks, make sure you have a full lid as they jump, will eat lots of almost anything. Cheers Shae

  20. IMO if they wanted to breed, then they would, regardless of the loaches, and the male/female (i forget) would protect the cave in which the eggs had been layed. Shae
