  1. Things seem to be going well - got my first few fry - fertility has increased - all 6 species are laying now.
  2. Yup thats whats happening with me - about 40 a day off the mop - all go white - even using the peat storage method.
  3. I have a 25 strong fish tank fishroom and can only house around 1000 fish at any one time - you must have a serious setup?
  4. getting around 30-40 eggs a day from the choc's atm - about 50% go fungusy within a few days tho. Using peat method.
  5. Sweet, trade on! will keep you posted - about to go see how many eggs i get tonight.
  6. Snails are not a problem dude - just make sure you have moss and driftwood to leach tannins - feed microworms or/and bbs - parents will consume these and readily breed and small fish can feed on this food too, they are heavy egg scatterers so once you have them conditioned it wont matter if snails or other tank mates eat a few eggs. Here is a crappy video of my WCMM breeding tank, hundreds of babys non stop - feeding on bbs. Biggest issue with bbs and egg scatterers is hydra! I've found putting a small mollie in the tank has helped deal to that, im told gourami work well too. I have heaps of moss and some brazilian pennywort and other slow growing plant in their like anubias and java. The babies look a lot like neons.
  7. I got 2 pairs of everything he had available - from each species i have at least one deformed fish - bit of a shame - was pleasantly surprised at the size i received though - basically ready to go and no deaths. I've only got four clowns - unsure of sex - none are showing any colour yet so maybe all females as they are close to full grown.
  8. I also have a decent fan - and after mucking around with extractor fans for ages i decided to do away with them as it caused far to much temp fluctuations.
  9. For the roof - you could attempt what ive done with my fishroom I purchased 3 sheets of 1200x 2400 x 50mm medium density poly - i cut it literally into giant jigsaw peices and then glued it with liquid nails and sealed it with an aquarium safe rubber paint. This has provided and excellent "floating" ceiling and the rubber paint added ALOT of strength and density to it without any serious weight. I also have have a dehumidifier in there that is on a timer - it runs for 3 hours a day - keeps it nice and dry and in conjunction with lighting, warms the room, my bottom racks are 24c and top racks are 28c.
  10. Yeah sure dude - the female striatum turned up seriously egg burdened - and blew all over the moss as soon as i tanked them - but none were fertilized so im just letting them settle atm - got this shipment about 6 days ago - must have beat you to the females Did any of the fish you got off rodney have deformities? i can't breed from some of them as they have quite obvious spinal deformities.
  11. Pauljones? Collected 35 eggs from my choc's last night (only had them 6 days) Haven't checked the p82's, striatum, golden australe or clown mops yet but im sure ill find something when i do. I've been off work and school for a few weeks over the holiday period so the young nothos were getting one feed of microworms and 2 feeds of bbs a day. They are almost ready to breed - so ill do some batch breeding and start sending eggs around the country to those keen to keep and breed more. Feeding the adults on a daily diet of mossy larvae - bbs - white worms and a tiny amount of flake every other day. Glad there are a few of us still putting some effort into these awesome fish
