  1. down with the walls. great job pies, i didnt think suphew was that tall though
  2. heres a pic of it with some sand and water, its now empty waiting to get drilled need to decide what i want to do for the overflow before i drill it though
  3. as you can see there hasnt been a huge change this time, but in real life you can see the two pictured acros developing a deeper colour the brown one seems to be taking on a purplish hue and the green one is a little harder to tell
  4. heres the brown one originally and last time and now
  5. got some new pics tonight, slight change since the last pics, to be sure though best to see them side by side ill pop them up once photobuckets up again
  6. stink, always a bummer to loose a fish but even more so when youve gotten attached to it
  7. eh, so much easier to get some one else to do it. then i can blame them if it breaks to, and i can still sleep at night
  8. i picked up some plumbing this morning. just need to find someone to drill my tank so i can put the bulkheads in so if anyone in hamilton knows how to drill holes let me know
  9. are you keeping that 3/4 or is that the one youve sold already? you need to cover the plate rock with corals so there is no room for algae
  10. I would have done it if I could have afforded it. probably comes down to the fact that for a tank my size its not as prohibitive as for a tank of your size (and almost every one elses tank) from the pics ive seen of the starphire tanks it looks great
  11. maybe for you, but i need my corals fixs other wise i go crazy
  12. i have the option of having the two veiwing panels in diamante glass will it make a huge difference??? and is it worth double the price of the tank with nomal glass??
  13. yeah i had one before and it was ok but it still made a gurgle quite often and it was rather tempremental (its now on a discus tank) i want something that doesnt need adjusting once its setup
  14. well i got the tank, hob filter and some sand last night darn hob filter wont self prime, got a little sick of it really and now im thinking ill get the tank drilled and put in a little overflow into a cannister filter. What you all think n.b will post some pics tonight
  15. i wouldnt call it arrogant, more of an observation as most begginers including myself untill recently (i am still more or less a begginer) have fairly basic corals and also basic tastes as most of what they have seen is what is in the LFS and that is usually brown mushrooms and finger leathers they also cost less making them more appealing to the begginer. there you go, not arrogant i agree that the LFS will always have its place. But i would like to see/have some different corals and as i said i am prepared to pay for said corals. it doesnt come down to whats allowed as much as it does the fact that as chimera said that with live stock the higher the price the higher the risk.
  16. acan's, various mille's, chalace corals i dont think ive ever seen anything for sale at the stores or in peoples tanks that even closely resemble the corals on display at reef central and nano-reef
  17. i think the diversity is the key. let the newbies have their brown mushrooms and finger leathers, i want different stuff the truth of the matter is that my tank is pretty darn full and i now want quality/different/special peices to replace my begining corals and i dont mind where i buy them from, if its something i really want/like then im willing to pay for it and the fact is its not often that that really nice peices are found more than once in a blue moon
  18. is there any ammonia ????
  19. oh well if anyones got one going cheap let me know or anything similar (no scwds)
  20. chimera are you still selling the 3/4" seaswirl? the syphon problem would be easier to avoid with the seaswirl.
  21. so would you have the squirt directions as pictured or with a different configuration?
