take out blue tang and replace with smaller less intimidating blue tang if it comes down to choosing betwwen the two i would defininatly go with the angel

it doesnt sound like there is anything in the tank that would have a huge demand for calcium. I dont like the idea of ammonia or nitrites in my tank that has livestock

lol, yeah i tried to talk to one guy and even offered him some free corals as he was only starting out, he seemed to get offended at the offer :roll:

:-? there was a swedish (ithink) that was totm on RC that experimented with not doing water changes over a year i think. but when he did finally go back to water changes noticed markable improvements in tank quality

about 400litre main tank lots of sps and a few lps. not too many fish though

how do you guys think a monti would do under my pc light?? it would only be about 5-10cm away from the light

not quite that long, about a year now (about to setup a new one) is it a reef tank or fresh water?? let me know if you want some xenia :roll:

surface skimming is easy enough to do. I think ill have to mod one of those surface skimmers as the adjust to the height of the water whereas anover flow box with a mini durso would break syphon once the water level dropped below a certain point (obviously the viaaqua thing would to but at least it would give me a bit of working room over the weekend when i cant monitor the water level)

guess i might give the whole overflow thing a skip then. should get the tank drilled this week. Just go to find a suitable cannister filter or make one. and then paint the back again, and set her up

t5's are the skinny tubes about the thickness of your finger and long like conventional flouro but the convetional ones are much thicker. they have the flouros in for two of the reasons you mentioned. colour spectrum and light spread. are you planning Mh lighting for your planted tanks luke?

if i dont have any fish in there will i need a surface skimmer/overflow??? i shouldnt get the yucky film on the top if ive got next to no animal bioload correct??? im only planning on a snail or two and if i can find one then a hermit crab as well to turn over the sand bed, or a radiant wrasse.

the hamilton tap water is fairly good as thats all ive ever used. i will get an ro/di unit oneday but as of today the tap water here is going well. and i have also used the same brand of carbon that rueben is using and my anemone didnt mind at all.

along these lines, but where is the best place to buy electronic ballasts for t5?? i want one ballast to run all of my t5s for my new tank

oh was it just the bulb holder its self or the ballast as well
