  1. best place close to hamilton is the shops lamp specialist in auckland. what kindof setup you planning on??
  2. nano cubes are purpose built for marines. They have more light and better filtration. Im not sure if anyone in NZ sells them but i saw one on trademe but he withdrew the auction, dodgy
  3. hey ben, you should put some pics of your tank in the saltwater members tanks part with some stats and equiptment list
  4. cool thanks. back to the frag prices thing though, i dont mind paying a few $$$ for something really nice like laytons superman danae or similar, because the likelyhood of finding anything like that is slim to none. but for your run of the mill frags i think payment is more a token than anything else and so prices should reflect the relative ease of accessing the particular coral, for example my leathers that im getting rid of, they are larger than frags but because they are fairly common im not asking much for them.
  5. hey ben do you have a bigger pic of the porites?? cant really see it and ive never seen a bird nest porites(that i know of), just curious
  6. the fish really dont care about the colour of the tubes you use, thhe blue (actinic) are more for corals and aesthetics
  7. marine can be any thing with seawater, a reef tank contains live corals there are fish only tanks as well
  8. awesome corals great colours, i like the clean glass but the aquascaping is a bit nappy (it looks like a prop tank imo)
  9. what kind of mechanical filtration is there?? is it just the two cannisters with the foam inserts??? it sounds like the fishies are stirring it all up as its not full of floaties in the morning but it is during the day, ciclids are just messy little kids after all
  10. maybe, there are some freaky cool birdsnest colour morphs out there.
  11. yes you can have too much current, it depends on what type of water movement your talking about as well, your powerheads that you have are creating a huge amount of flow in one central stream but then the rest is lacking so yes in a way you have too much flow in those specific areas but you probably have deadspots too. the trick is creating a wave like effect that is random and has a more washing effect
  12. well i put up my list on nzreef.com come on peeps put'em up
  13. superman monti nice , i wonder if anyone in hamilton has a frag :-? good thing im so close to auckland,
  14. as far as i know you arnt allowed to import freshwater inverts, and the native crays dont like the heat at all
  15. i was going to suggest laytons site but i thought it was www.reefcentral.co.nz o well
  16. im not having a hood, thats why it wouldnt really suit, i dont really want any exposed areas other than the tank its self andso i dont really want a sump
  17. yes they are  if i thought about it im sure i could figure it out but in the end it ruins the surprise and its not as fun as invisible dinosaurs
  18. i agree ben good system
  19. that super red is heaps better than thos plainold dumb red ones. great looking coral
  20. i still dont understand the polar bears, but im sure that the monsters that we havent seen yet are invisible dinosaurs
  21. the idea of my nano is to decrease space/equiptment so it doesnt stand out or look like there is anything other than the tank
