  1. I decided to try and grow some plants above one of my tanks, part of it is a trial for an aquapoincs system as well as for nitrate removal. I originally planted lettuce, 2 types of chilli, capsicum, cucumber, watermelon, mint, strawberry sand parsley. a couple weeks later and the lettuce is no more and the strawberry and parsley are not far off with capsicum a bit of hit and miss. However the chillies and watermelon are loving life. I bought two more dfferent chillies so will get them in tomorrow. I think the other plants have not handled the heat of the fish room. I will keep updating this to show my harvest. Day one Two weeks in
  2. So I got given this plant a few months back as dwarf hair grass, which I assumed it was not. Since having it I have struggled to keep it in substrate let alone grow it. Any ideas please, it looks to have no root structure just little tuffs of leaves. I am sorry for my average at very best photos of it.

    co2 systems

The small Fluval units would be significantly too small for your set up Would think you would need a bigger size co2 rig set up.
  4. Nice stand! Looking forward to seeing this set up progress.
  5. As always amazing! What do you use to take your videos?
  6. All of my extra tanks are now in the fish room. Only two display tanks left inside.
  7. So currently this is just a yellow plastic tub with an air stone inside it.Lighting is an Aquaone twin four foot light unit, which is wasting light as I do not have a 2 foot unit. After playing around for a few hours and realising I am out of space in here I am considering doing a rack with a few of these tubs/tanks. Pots have Daltons potting mix then Daltons Aquatic Soil and then topped off with potting mix again. Anubias and javas are growing on rock wool. I need to work out a way of increasing the humidity in the tub. Currently I am spraying some water in the tub in the morning. OK, you asked for more pics so here you go...
  8. These are all "extras" that I have had pop up submerged
  9. Peace lilly is often refereed to as "boreno swords" when grown submerged. So if you see one in shop under that name give it a go.
  10. So I started my first emersed set up today. Not many plants in there for now as I ran out of pots, for some dub reason I thought 8 would fill up my tank I was using, I then decided I liked the tank and used the smaller yellow tub which is still not full  Anywhom, I have a few more crypts to go in and some Echinadorus. I also want to grow Anubias, Java fern species and moss species in a separate set up fairly soon. I may also try other things I have extras of. Expect plenty of WTB posts as I try to increase my collection of these plants (If anyone wants to do a plant swap please let me know) Day one:
  11. Personally I would start with more than 8 dems, and a couple less BB.
  12. 50-70% once a week, sometime 2 or 3 times a week if I have nothing else to do.
  13. Is there anyone else who would like to add to this list?
  14. Thanks Geoff, will give that a hoon.
  15. Yeah I think the FX5 may end up being employed for the job on that tank. Another 1500L of water got added to the room tonight.... Thanks all who were involved tonight. Beers on completion of the job!
  16. It is more the waste they make and the sucking abilities of the foam. Option B is making my own foam filter with Poret (Thanks for the idea Raymond) and option C is use one of the canister filters I have sitting waiting for me to do something with.
  17. I also learned last night that, Panaque and foam filters may not be the best of friends. So my dream of all on sponge and foam may not be fully achievable, but time will tell.
  18. Higher and lower are options for smaller tanks and probably options that will be done in time. Problem is I am big and I like big tanks and fish, so my four "big" tanks are taking up all of the room. I want to have the ability to breed some fish in here as well, which is why I am running out of room.
  19. I now officially have more tanks running in the fish room than in the house. Sadly I have now realised I need more tank space and I am out of room for all of my fish.
