  1. Right plant geeks I need some advice on lighting. I am about to change my main display tank from big nasties to planted. Tank is 2200 (L)x500 (W)x 680 (H). I am planning on using the EI fert system as I have had good success with it in the past. Plants will be various swords, crypts, anubias, maybe a stem or two for good luck, barclaya and other plants I am desperately looking for, I am hopping to get a carpet plant going. Currently is has two Current Satelite Plus unit over it, but I am unsure if they will be strong enough for plants. I am willing to go MH as I have two 4 foot units currently, but I would rather avoid it. Any light suggestions?
  2. So finally I have established that tourists have nothing to do with fish importation. And the fact we are so far away from everything, so freight it not cheap.
  3. So what on earth do tourists have to do with importing fish and the increasing fees??
  4. Are tourists importing fish?

  9. Crypts just melt because you look at them sometimes. The change of environment will most likely effect them for a while, but they will bounce back.
  10. I have been considering getting a group, but am still not sure yet.

Or set up another tank for your shrimp you want to keep and keep them in a species designed tank and then get a heater for this tank and go full tropical.
  12. Have you had a read of some of the older threads on here about ply tanks? I was considering it a while back and found a few with lots of info.

  19. Dam! How do they handle the temp fluctuations in summer in the wild? Or do the rivers and streams not raise that much?
  20. Hi there, enjoy your new hobby!
  21. In summer I have found temp from my hose to tank is pretty similar so not such a big deal, but in the winter I normally do more smaller changes instead of bigger one offs to help with the temp.
  22. Oh so true. All the rest of what Caryl said is very true as well.
