  1. :rotf: nice, there is a huge problem with them out there, problem with cats is they kill for fun, dogs normally kill then eat (unless the animals too large) they even have problems with cats killing roos
  2. make sure you get a good school of cories, they don't like being alone
  3. kinda sad tho how Aussie pet stores all use the plastic cup technique. I got really annoyed when the banks all started having fighters in wine glasses on their counters
  4. many sharks are live bearers, also there is the infamous Malaysian trumpet snail as well
  5. awww, poor me, I'm only allowed to keep a 1200L tank and several thousand $$$ of fish
  6. or try the TLC range, proven better that stress zyme and Seachem (96% ammonia reduction compared to 16% or 26%)
  7. in Aussie we used to get $5 for every cat tail we brought in
  8. imo remove those carbon pads, waste of time and money, replace them with filter wool
  9. wow, there are some cool cories when you google longfins
  10. I find whiteworms try and escape if the soil is too wet or too acidic
  11. if its that Aqua one black silica then I wouldnt be surprised if its "shaving" the cories, that stuff is sharp enough to cut my hands
  12. there is a different species as well that looks very similar to a peppered until its fins grow out
  13. I've found the julii's to be extra sensitive to poor gravel cleaning compared to other cories. the washed out then dead effect sounds like an ammonia issue or poor acclimation methods. and filter clean out is a bit excessive (only when flowrate drops) I would get some water tests done asap (also check out your nitrate levels as even though its not as toxic as NH3/NH4 and NO2, high enough concentrations do cause problems (sometimes quite unusual ones)) 25% fortnightly PWC sounds pretty good compared to some although imo I would up it to weekly changes. what dimensions is your tank?? if its 220L tall it could be an oxygen issue. Check current flow as well, some of your fish prefer faster water movement, some prefer slow what sizes are your fish, as imo the tank is overstocked for adult sizes, and also I would consider removing the chinese algae eater as they get nasty when they get older
  14. be very careful when you reduce your lightning
  15. please remember that we are not allowed pirahna's due to the threat of them escaping into the wild
  16. yeah, plus taxes, most run on a 2x wholesale +50% from what I've seen
  17. would be an interestng experiment, if you try it make sure you record everything, If I had a spare tank I would try as well.... oh well, MTS withdrawl symptoms....
  18. probably would have a big magnifying glass next to it just so everything seems big
  19. my wallet seems to boycott a few things
  20. yeah, I think these ones were pretty much ready to drop, there was almost as much 'berry' as shrimp
  21. $200 m2 aint too bad for that if you think how many traps you can make out of it.
  22. in the meantime you should look at the nano side of the hobby (untill you get an aligator gar tank)
