    fish prices

Hey What price range are people mostly likely to spend on fish. Would the LFS buy fish off me that are $40 each at most stores or are these to expensive for customers? Or should I just stick to fish about $20. thanks

    Red devil cichlid

Well I had about 30 now down to 6, I think they were casualties of my filter
  4. I am in the Waikato Club, Should I be getting one?
  5. Hey Got my eyes set on a wild pair of cockatoo cichlids. Would breeding them be the same as captive breed? I have a 2 foot tank set up for them with gravel a undergravel filter and a cave made out of stones, the pH is about 6.2 and the water is quite soft. I will probably feed them cichlids pellets, earthworms and frozen bloodworms. Am I doing everything right? Anything I need to change? thanks

    Red devil cichlid

I just got the little devils today.
  7. I have a pair and am thinking of putting them in a 112 litre tank with no gravel, a heater and a power filter aiming towards the glass to dispurse the water flow. What would be good for an angelfish to lay their eggs on? thanks
  8. I now use that light on a bigger tank with a dense covering of floating plants and there is no problem now.
  9. I have a light that when I turn it on in a tank about 40cm high or less all the fish start acting all crazy and crash into everything. So I think that you can have too much light.
  10. They are suiable for tropical fish but as the surface area they cant hold many fish. To work out the surface area divide the octogan into triangles and work from there. To work out the area of a triangle it is half base of the triangle multiplyed by the height. Then multiply this by 8 (because of the 8 sides) then multiply again by the height of the water.
  11. You need a permit or something from MAF for you to get them into the Country dont you?
  12. I am just sharing my experiences with peat.

    Culling

I heard that the fish can feel their blood freezing and expanding. That can't feel that great can it?
  17. If the peat doesnt sink, boil it in hot water until it does.
  18. Oh I thought rivers around here were about 15 degrees or less
  19. what were swordtails doing there? They couldnt have possibly survived in such low tempretures.

  23. You could boil it or pour boiling water over it.
  24. I have kept them before. In Philippines I kept a few red eared turtles (got them for $5 each) so I do know what I am doing. Im just looking at a more interesting type of tutle. Which turtles are the more expensive?
  25. Nope. I am just looking for prices and info at the moment. I already have a 1.2 m tank that can be half filled and I just need a filter and heater. What type of price range are you talking about?
