  1. Ok Iv made up my mind and ordered a pair. Im also going to order a wingless fruit fly culture. Im going to find a tank that is shallow with a large surface area. The top is going to have no disturbance and covered in duckweed and other floating plants. The tanks also going to have a tight lid to stop jumping and keep humidity up. pH will be about 6 and temp about 26. Ill keep the water soft by adding peat extract. Thats the best mimic of africa I can do. Anyone know other floating live foods I can use? As these fry are possibly the hardest to raise I will just have to keep trying.

    HELP

shes in a tank with fry because there is no other place for her of the fry. The fry would get eaten anywhere else and the female will get beaten up. Shes a wild fish so she would probably be very sensitive to medications and salt. I will add 1 tsp of rock salt every couple of hours.

    palmy water??

The cheaper discus are about $100 while the more expensive are 200. uarus are only about $30.
  6. I would feed the parents high quality foods and live foods so that they can keep producing food for the fry.
  7. I guess I will have a few 15 litre tanks with a pair in each. Filtration: Sponge filter, no heating nessesary. The tanks will be bare bottomed with java moss for the fish to spawn on. I will feed the fry micro worms. Does that sound about right?
  8. Hey I was wondering how everyone breeds these. How do they breed? Will they sell? Got any ideas on an ideal tank setup? What about tempreture, I just saw them at the LFS and saw some outside in a Pond. thanks
  9. My dad does under water photography. I might be able to get some pics from the philippines and south africa. Im pretty sure hes got some pics of black sea horses and other rare stuff.

  12. When i had turtles when you got a mouth full of water it was more than just water.
  13. www.worldofwater.co.nz this has the averge price of fish around here. I said basic as meaning alkaline.
  14. I just have them in an ice cream container with a mix of corn flour, rolled oats and yeast. It produces about a 2 inch thick line of them all around the edge of the container every feeding time.
  15. so they would need to be able to cope with quite basic water and stick up for themselves
  16. micro worms would be good if it was a bare bottumed tank. But they would still be good if it had gravel.
  17. I guess they would be kind of like humans. Take africans, they have adapted to extreme heat at day and very cold at night. While people that live in cold places, their bodies have adapted. I rekon fish could do the same if breed through enough generations.
  18. I think you would get mixxed colours so they wouldnt look too great.
  19. I think that if you wanted corals eg. you need to buy extra nutrients eg. But i dont know about fish. What most people do is have a sump so that they get maximum surface area and dissolved oxygen.
  20. an angel is an angel. How can you be sure that you can sex them?
  21. Im not an expert but it depends on what size tank you want and what you want to put in it.
  22. everything topic in this forum changes topic about 2+ times.
  23. without gravel in the tank you can easily syphon all waste off the bottom of the tank. The gravel would hide food particals. All breeders know that bare bottomed tanks are the best for breeding fish.
  24. my definition of a cold water fish would be a fish that can be kept without a heater inside and you can keep some guppies in a tank with no heater inside. If people have kept guppies in unheated tanks I would call them cold water guppies.
