  1. Hey I have recently got a few of these fis but I will need some instructions on how to breed these fish and how to raise the fry , So if any of you could help it will be greatly appriciated. Another thing does anyone know where I can get aquarium quality peat bulk around the tauranga area? Thanks
  2. I was looking at the spotted cockatoo this morning and then it got into a fight with one of its siblings and the spot slowely changed into a line. This is the only of my fry that does this but it is pretty cool
  3. Hey I just noticed to that one of my dwarf cockatoo cichlid fry (born just before the 20th of march) Has a black spot where his/her black horizontal line should be, So instead of line, the the rest of its siblings have, it has a spot. Can someone tell me what has happened here? thanks
  4. Buy some different coloured swordtails for me, as I can only find orange ones around tauranga. I will pay all costs before hand. I dont want to have to ship fish far at this time of year so you would have to be somewhere close to tauranga such as auckland or hamilton. If you can buy black, blue, yellow or any other colours of swordtails other than orange, and live close to tauranga. Just give me a PM. thanks

    Dwarf cockatoos

Hey Can someone tell me what setup they use for breeding dwarf cockatoos. At the moment I hav a pair in a 30cm x 30cm x 60cm tank with a few rocks and a java fern and amazon sword i think and a slightly tiped pot. But they dont seem to be breeding. What setup would you suggest? also what spawning triggers do you know of? Thanks for your help

  9. Well I just checked and The male was dead, I suppose he wasnt lazy, just dieing. I will go to the fish store and look for another one. And hopefully raise some of the fry from the still floating eggs.
  10. In his eggs. He made a bubble nest in his tank so i released the female into the tank, I came home after school 1 day and there were about 200 eggs floating on the surface of the water so i took out the female. by the next morning 3/4 of the eggs were on the bottom of the tank, and the male wasnt doing any thing about it. Is this normal or do I just have a lazy male??

    Unknown fish

I remember when I lived in The philippines, I had a very aggresive fish, It was shaped and looked like a hora's loach with a slight pink colour. It also had barbels like a cory, and was about 6cm long. It was king of the tank and killed everything in it. it would even dig under the tank divider to get to them. It ripped apart a salamanda and almost killed my red eared terrapins. 1 morning I found it on the floor completely dry and after pealing it off the floor I put it back in the tank. After a few days it was back to normal. One sad day a kingfisher got the fish. Does anyone know what the fish could of been? Thanks

I want An easy to look after big fish to be by itself in a heated freashwater tank. Any ideas?? I was thinking about either a big eel or an oscar or somthing similiar, What are the pros and cons of each of these? I would want something aggresive and carnivorice and 30cm or over. Thanks

  17. How long till i can sell my dwarf cockatoo cichlids I first saw the fry on the 20th march getting eaten by my gouramis in my community tank, but i was quick to react and have 28 to this date. How long will it take to get them to selling size and any idea how much I could sell them for. I just started fish breeding as somthing to do. I have 3 60cm x 30cm x 30cm tanks. 1 heavily planted tank with a breeding pair a dwarf cockatoo's. 1 with the dwarf cockatoo fry and a lone surviving guppy fry from my community tank . And 1 tank that I have tryed to breed pearl gouramis and opaline gouramis in before I took them out after the females lost most of there fins befor they even spawned. Im now trying to breed some bronze corydoras in it. My community tank is a 170cm x 45cm x 45cm with a bit of drift wood at 1 end and some rocks at the other. The fish I have in this tank are pair of pearl gourmi, pair of opaline gourami, a single male honey gourami, a group of 9 zebra danios, 2 small bristlenose catfish, a few guppies and a group of 6 young angels that I got on special. I want some easy fish to breed so I get a bit of confidence, any ideas?? thanks
