  1. Just thought I would share a few pictures of the rams that I purchased from danval a little while back, they're still quite young around 3-4 months I think and are only 2-3cm but already showing brilliant colouring and happily there is a mix of both sexes. I am not sure if I will keep all 12 to build up a few breeding pairs or just keep growing them to sell them on, I will definitely be adding 4 of them to my discus tank either way.
  2. 125ltrs is not enough to keep either of those species in, especially together. Better off getting some otocinclus cats in my opinion.
  3. Dwarf sag will grow fine with no co2, with low light you will find it grows taller than usual as it reaches for the light. Sword plants are another great easy plant to grow that don't require much nutrients and light. Crypts as well. All should do fine in your tank Ian.
  4. Gonna look good dude, I would go with plants that you can attach to wood and rocks like anubias and java ferns.
  5. Some people have no morals!
  6. What's your water perimeters like?
  7. I haven't heard of anyone managing to keep them alive longer than a year in NZ. Too overbred they reckon. I have 12 growing at the moment and from what I have read online they require even more care than discus and practically the same conditions e.g. high temp, low current and pristine water conditions. Also when doing water changes they should be smaller and more frequent than usual, I do about 20% every 2 days and keep tank temperature around 28c. I will upload photos of mine in the next few days once I find a new psu.
  8. Shops like the $2 shop usually sell them or trademe, just search for plug adapters.
  9. What type of rams Cam? As you probably know blue rams are notoriously hard to keep alive, and once a fish dies it doesn't take long for them to decompose.
  10. Hard to say Ian, some wood I have had has taken months to water log, best way is to put some heavy rocks on top of it while it is soaking to make sure it stays fully submerged and keep checking it every few days. Or you can cheat and tie it to some rocks with nylon and put it straight into the tank.
  11. Have you read through this thread mate? All the information you are looking for is in here. Also I am sure Jennifer will reply to you when she has a chance anyway, she is probably just busy with life and work.
  12. They're just rebranded blue planet tanks I think.
  13. Do not use oxygen shells, in my opinion they are a load of crap and utterly useless. I have also heard they release ammonia as they dissolve which is not a good thing. I take it this is for sending the BGK? if so I think you are taking a silly chance of sending a 30cm fish anywhere not locally dude and hoping for it to survive, especially a temperamental fish like them. Sorry if i'm wrong.
  14. Looks good dude. Just ignore Ira, he's probably got his period again.
  15. Looks like echinodorus "ozelot" or "osiris".
  16. Nice fish list. Seems like a lot of soon to be large very messy fish for a 750 ltr tank though? :spop:
  17. no. 2 and 4 would be my choice.
  18. :rotf: There is no noise, it's seriously simple and I still consider it low tech. Just an idea to lower the cost of ferts for you.
