  1. Yeah I agree Sam, pics 2 & 7 are the only ones I believe are his, I'm pretty sure even I could do better and I have no artistic skill what so ever lol.
  2. Should be fully grown by 18 months, sexually mature around 12 I think.
  3. That should do the job, especially with doing a few more water changes than the usual. I do 2-3 30% water changes on my discus tank weekly, I could probably get away with less but since my tanks still just maturing I like to be extra vigilant. With adult discus you could easily get away with only changing 50% weekly especially since the tank has been set up for quite awhile? Is it planted? If it is I would be tempted to get some juvies and grow them on myself as the plants will help keep nitrates down which affect growth and also you would have a decent chance of getting a pair once they reach maturity.
  4. Same here, thought it was kind of cheeky. Especially using pics of tanks from the net.
  5. They're some good looking scapes man, wow. Your nano would fit in quite well their I reckon.
  6. I'm impressed Sam, looks real good and will look really pro once the hairgrass has spread and filled in, very Amano looking. On another note did you see the guy on trademe who is selling his services for scaping iwagumi style aquariums?
  7. You should be able to keep 4-5 adult sized discus or 6-8 juveniles in a tank that size along with a decent school of fish like neons etc.
  8. Discus!!! or maybe some rams and apistos?
  9. P44, nothing in my statement is incorrect and I even warned at higher doses it will be harmful so why should I beware? Just because you had a bad experience using it does not mean it shouldn't be considered. Just Google it and you will find just as many people that have great success using it on all types of algae with no ill effects. People do use it with great success but of course being a dangerous chemical there is a risk of harming livestock. If I were ever going to do it I would just spot treat the affected areas with the filter off to give it a longer time to be in contact with the affected area. Only for 5 minutes or so though.
  10. Looks great, your val is looking really healthy I can't seem to get mine to grow at all, wondering if the temp I keep my tank at is just too high. Those gold harliquins look amazing I've never seen them before.
  11. I have to post to this, Sophia so with your logic about that being the cats behavior and it's not your fault, wouldn't that mean when my dog bites someone it isn't his fault as it is his nature to want to bite because he is a dog and that is what they do? And training him not to is not possible because he naturally wants to do so and it would not be fair on him? What a load of rubbish. Sorry if this angers anyone but meh, I just finished mowing my lawns and then scraping cat crap off my shoe from someone's damn feline, anyone know of a good diy cat trap?
  12. Looks great Dave, those lights are awesome!
  13. What type of diffusion method are you using?
  14. Hello Duane, welcome to the forums.
  15. Cheers guys, will start enquiring this week.
  16. I think that has been proven to be a myth dude, people use it all the time to help kill different types of algae with great success. In larger doses it would be harmful to fauna and beneficial bacteria though.
  17. That doesn't even make sense, people like you are the reason people like me do not like cats, what a crap attitude you have. You as a cat owner should be the one making sure your cat doesn't come into someone else's yard and if you do not you should be liable for the damages it causes. How would you like it if I came into your yard and crapped all over your lawns etc. Oh that's right you would just put up some netting to deter me, yeah right! I don't know why I am bothering so this will be the last post I make in this thread, guess I'll just put up and shut up about it.
  18. Sounds like my kind of lady, what a saint! I hear anti freeze works a treat.
  19. This whole thread is full of people who are sick of ignoring the problems associated with cat ownership and want something done about it. How does covering my garden with netting help solve the problem? That's just a temporary fix and a waste of time, also how would this help when they don't just defecate on my gardens but my lawns, daughters trampoline, concrete path and my bark covered gardens aswell, I suppose I should cover all of them with netting aswell?
  20. I guess ignorance really is bliss for some people. "My cat doesn't poo in my yard so it's not my problem" That's like saying that it isn't my responsibility if my child goes to school and becomes a bully because they don't act like that at home.
  21. Wow so many naive cat owners, that has to be one of the silliest things I have ever heard - covering my garden so your cat doesn't defecate in it. I wish I was your neighbor. As for dogs roaming and digging up your garden etc. at least you have the law on your side as to dog control laws and their owners can get fined, this wouldn't happen with a cat owner which is completely unfair and morally wrong in my opinion. Just for clarification I do not own a dog or a cat though I am a dog lover and will get one when I once again live in a house that has a suitable section to keep my animal contained as I am a responsible pet owner.
  22. The guy who sells them is a member of this forum, his username is lotofish and he's a really good guy. I would pm him and ask him to give you some more details. I have never used that type of system but I've heard good things about it.
  23. Please explain your educated and professional methods that would work? If you are not prepared to keep your feline friend locked up in either an enclosure or inside all the time you shouldn't have one, and don't complain when someone who is sick of your pet takes matters into their own hands and destroys them or harms them to keep them off their property. Why should a non cat owner have to deal with all the literal crap when they are supposed to be the owners responsibility? Also I am not saying all cat owners are irresponsible, just the majority of them.
