Yeah they really appreciate alot of shelter as they are supposed to be nocturnal. They MUST have driftwood in the tank as this is the major part of their diet it seems. I really love mine they look amazing.

I keep 6 in my 450ltr. They didn't cost me much but I bought mine from another member off here, they aren't available that often privately I think. Petshops charge between $40-120 each from what I hear. As for sunshines I am not sure how hard they are to buy but I think they would outgrow a 450ltr pretty fast and would end up destroying your planted tank just by moving around - someone who has kept them might be able to contradict me though. Also are they able to be kept in the same temperature as discus?, planetcatfish should be able to tell you.

I keep tiger plecs in my discus tank and they are fine, I see them quite often and they don't bother the discus at all. Also 7.4 is maybe a bit high for discus as they prefer a lower ph around 6.5.

LOL, can't say I've ever had that problem before but at least I know now if I do. Also Dennis, you don't have to fill the canister with water before you restart it, just make sure you close the hose taps while it is still running and then open them once you plug it back in, it should act like a siphon and refill itself and once it has plug it back in.

Turn all air pumps off. Also I would use something like either a tarpaulin or the equivalent depending on the size of your tanks. Even those black plastic rubbish bag you buy from the supermarket would be good if you have small tanks.
