  1. Great looking fish... nice colourations. Thanks for the pics. My wife names all the aqautic life in our house... wonder what she will call a Koura?
  2. Nice pics... looks like it was a good night out. Looking forward to seeing any underwater ones you got last night

    Progress

Completely agree with this... when taking photos always take more than you think you need... and if you think you have got a really good shot, take a few more just to be safe.

    New tank

Nice work on the aquascaping! Looking good.
  5. In some cases they can and will prosecute for fraud as well, depends on the severity of the claim inflation etc. Best to be upfront and honest with insurance companies... only claim for what is broke... because it could stuff up things in the future... not worth it in my opinion. My condolances to all involved.
  6. Nice... of all the streams in my area I have only found one that has bullies, all the rest are full of Koura, Banded Kokopu, Eels, and Shrimp... well, that's what I've been able to spot in my night time wanderings Got any photos of the bullies in the tank doing their thing?
  7. It is a nice looking set up you have there. I agree with Stella though... I would be putting a couple more small bullies in there rather than inanga... I can just imagine a couple of Bullies perched on top of the middle bit of rock I can see why you want to get a mid level fish though... not a lot happening in the higher areas of the tank, maybe a decent piece of wood going into the higher areas that the Bullies can climb on and be merry... would break up the black background some more too.
  8. Pity Twiggy isn't a NZ Native. 68000L is a decent sized pond Wouldn't mind that in my back yard.
  9. Depending how big the pond is, I would suggest Banded Kokopu... They get to a good size, they are a cool looking fish and they will often chill out in one spot, so you will actually be able to view them better than things like inanga/bullies etc. This is just my opinion, maybe Stella or another native expert would have another option? I'm learning quickly... but still learning nonetheless
  10. I normally feed once a day, with different types of food each day. I fast the fish for a day a week and then feed peas the day after... seems to work for my lot, they all happy and healthy Interesting to see the variety in everyone's feeding schedules, goes to show there is no real tried and true rule... which is probably what the fish are used to in nature... sometimes good eating, sometimes rubbish.
  11. Those are some happy looking Cories... sure they will enjoy their new home.
  12. I reckon the owner has come home from a fishing trip and the cat has nicked that fish... that or it is the bait... one of mine has done that. Silly cats  Bought a smile to my face, thanks for sharing Stella.
  13. Plastic cards in wallets (Credit cards) make awesome scrapers... nothing stands up to them. As long as you're prepared to get arm wet, though you could maybe try attach one to a long handle if you really don't want a wet arm. I use a subway club card that I was given to scrape the glass, does great job.
  14. How the fish doing today? All still happy and going ok?
  15. I think even critters would get in each others way!
  16. Sorry to hear about this, I have read some of his works... certainly a loss. Rest In Peace Bob.

    Fay's Reef Tank

Awesome looking tank... could spend hours looking at something that good. I really like the end on shots... gives a really good idea on the length of the tank and it looks great. Great work, thanks for sharing!
  19. I love that first pic. "Pleco's.... Chaaaaaarge!" Great work
  20. I had a copper one crawl over my hand at my desk at work yesterday... it was very small...and very cool, it sat there chilling out looking around the place...then I took it outside and let it run off into a bush. But there seems to have been a bit of a population explosion.... maybe the bugs population explosion has in turn created a lizard pop explosion
  21. These sites are throughout Eskdale and Kaipatiki area... There is a path which starts at the bottom of Eskdale road, it pretty much follows the stream right round to the Kaipatiki area... I have been walking dog in this area for a while and starting peering into the water... sometimes you have to go bush to follow the little streams that feed the main flow, and thats where the best sites are I'm finding In other news, my mums place extends down into a great bush area with a stream running through it, and as I kid I used to spend hours down there playing and I remember seeing fish down there, so I was round there yesterday afternoon and thought I'd shoot down into the bush for a look... it has changed a bit down there and the stream is actually bigger and deeper now, and it is full of banded Kokopu. I'm thinking I'll head down there for my next spot light session
