  1. lol sorry didn't mean to give you scary mental images! people often add veges and all sorts of stuff into their ox heart mixtures. i don't bother because my fish get all the nutrients they need from their staple fish food (hikari gold, carnivore, etc) and i use the ox heart as more of a treat when they have been good fishies or when i am feeling nice. fish should not be fed solely on ox heart.
  2. pheco is a cool word. i'm going to call my pleco a pheco from now on.
  3. i put chopped ox heart in my stir frys. my flatmates think it's yum but i haven't told them it's heart. lambs hearts are good roasted especially if you pack the aorta and pulmonary artery with garlic and rosemary. as for my fish, i chop it up into little pieces, and wrap little chunks in glad wrap and freeze. when comes time to feed, drop the frozen ball into a cup of water, let it defrost, take the glad wrap off and let the fish have it.
  4. keep telling yourself that... we all know how it goes
  5. are they in her mouth? do jags keep fry in their mouth?
  6. haven't got the flemish for another week or so. and i'm gonna make sure my cat agrees. i'll look after this one well until it finds a good home.
  7. i also now have a rabbit i don't want. anyone want it?
  8. i now have a rabbit hutch. thanks to all those that offered.
  9. i don't think a gradual five degrees is much more of a temperature fluctuation than most fish would ever experience in the wild. i really like the word fluctuation. regarding your original question, there really is only is one way to find out....
  10. i think the little brown ones are not natives but i could be wrong. it has been a decade or so since i have found any other lizard, used to find geckos all over the shore, bright green ones mostly.
  11. yea i realise that. but my point is that they are not the only exotic animal that could breed in auckland conditions.
  12. i do. it's stink to keep a cat inside. i bought a big bell for it's neck to give the birds a chance. seems to be working, but he still gets the little brown skinks.
  13. most fish are fine anywhere between 6-8 PH level. it is sudden changes in PH that does the most harm. just keep changing 20% water and the PH will figure out where it's gonna stay. do not use PH adjustment chemicals! ever!
  14. cheap or free. PM me if you have one you'd like to get rid of please.
  15. i believe this is how the teenage mutant ninja turtles were created. TMNF?
  16. yeah. it's a fair point to say that if they are going to ban blueys then why not ban the myriad of other exotic creatures that are legally kept here but could easily establish themselves in the wild and become a threat to our native wildlife. ie almost all exotic birds, water dragons, etc.. why have they just focused on the BTS - which likely wouldn't even survive an NZ winter in the wild..
