  2. does anyone know if you can get deisel anywhere? i heard the northside petrol stations are fine but not operating?
  3. ive got a spare 160L with heater an filter if anyone wants to borrow it -02102795337
  4. people been trapped in buildings overnight just got power on here(hope filter hasn't died off), lost 2 of my tanks which sucks, water everywhere, only 2 losses which is pretty amazing really... came home about 6 hours after the quake to find 4 bristlenose still alive on the floor O_O my thoughts go out to those in cbd an there families hope you are all doing ok just like everyone else my property is ruined an flooded, silt upto 60cm deep in some places... so glad i just sold my racer car an got a 4x4. I was heading threw water that was coming in the doors of my truck seen cars half submerged in water/cracks. now 1 massive clean up ahead
  5. good to see you got it sorted, id put a filter in frog tank if you have any decent amount of water... ive kept frogs before an they are really dirty buggers! I told my brother the same thing but he ignored me after repeated attempts to get him to sort his tank out, now all his frogs are dead an he still argues they dont need a filter >.<

    devastation

sorry to hear that Nav a very nice fish to
  7. petworld would also be worth a look, the chap there has just setup a bunch of tanks, not sure if hes filled them with fish yet but that place is really looking good now
  8. no problems in woolston. you may need to add details of your tank size, fish an filter size, also how do you do your water changes? an are you cleaning filter at the same time? do you add any chemicals to your tank? other things would be new rocks or wood that wasnt cleaned ? your not cleaning your filter under the tap by chance? you should only need to clean a filter every 2-4weeks(or more if its external) an should only be a quick splash to loosen any stuck debris, not a full clean as you want the bacteria to be left on it. I had a friend who lost almost all his fish cleaning his filter under hot tap water... after i repeatedly told him not to do it :an!gry
  9. not to sure on times, feed them ALOT if you are wanting them to mature fast. Males tend to mature quicker than females IMO thou
  10. not to shabby I reckon note the 8 ping ?!?!? my net goes PC > switch > 10m lan cable > router > 5m lan cable > telstra modem hahaha
  11. well the way I see it, you work hard you pass, you slack off you dont pass the reason they have those "stupid" credits is so people who aren't "book smart" can still get a qualification.. book smarts aren't everything... YOU SHOULD get credits for being able to drive a tractor or fix a car or build a desk or weld a ornament or draw a nice painting... the system is not designed to only allow "book smart" people to move on its there to give everyone a fair chance at what they are best at, if we simply said oh your not got at maths an science so im failing you what point would there be in a schooling system? people are always going to be very different, i personally cant spell for stool an was in "cab English" how ever the same time I was extremely good at maths an was doing level 2 maths at 5th form... used to be able to fill out 100 mathematical problems in 2.38 mins which was fastest of my class, put me in a spelling competition id be out first round (thanks google chrome for spell checker) it really boils down to WHAT you passed in ncea not the amount of credits, the credits are more like indicators of what you are good at... all the job interviews ive been to they didn't care about the credits they were more interested in what I passed or did well in, an what i failed or didn't do well in
  12. just wondering if anyone has kept tadpoles with tropical fish? my tanks sit at a low 24, im thinking its alil to hot but i guess it depends where the frogs are from, might be ok for ones up north
  13. haha he is actually the neighborhood bully, you should hear the fights he has O_O hasn't got half of his teeth or claws. We have the obesity biscuits but I think some other over friendly neighbor is feeding him good to hear Jen, your male is pretty awesome so im sure you will have a babies in no time, but if you need to try another female just let me know.what are the ideal characteristics you are looking for? as I have quite a variety some are golder than others some are greener, some have red tips on there fins, generally when they are ready to lay they go the normal dark dark red an have a bright gold topfin with dark black around the edges of all the fins.all have spots on tail fin I think. After looking at pics of websites an doing some reading of post written by someone who has been keeping them on an off for 20years says he has had moliwe females with 1 or 2 spots on there fin, so they may not be a X breed ref: http://www.thekrib.com/Apisto/P-taeniatus.html#4
  14. ty very much with the help an freebies, your tanks are pretty much perfect haha, I got my co2 going an got ferts today an have dosed the minimal amount for now.... my co2 is putting out a bunch of bubbles every 10seconds, they go straight to the surface, should they be swirling around before going to the surface? I've got it running on a power head filter attachment how are the kribs going? I feel bad not giving you a nicer female now seeing such a nice setup you've got  p.s can you send me through the dosage for that 1L bottle thing you had going for the phosphate an nitrate
  15. just been around at Jens amazing setups there, have been given some great advice an ferts to try out diy co2 an an ferts are going in that tank.... hopefully that will boost my plants
  16. hes a big old boy isnt he! he was living in the garden when we shifted houses, and was the biggest "tankest" looking cat ive ever seen in my life, we feed him up an hes now super fat hahaha I would like to grow some hair grass amongst the rocks but it doesn't seem to be growing very well an seems to do better on top of the water floating around? any tips on how I can get my plants to thrive? im not to keen on co2 an fert is quite expensive... the fish in there, 1 guppy baby, 1 fighter, 7 kribensis , and a handful off sunshine peacock babies its a very friendly tank minus the fin nipping kribs
  17. frog tank with low temp tropicals on bottom, heavily planted top an bottom:P
  18. just buy some guppys will cost you less an when they survive an breed you will have free food but idealy get some dirty water an drop it straight into your tank or run your filter in another tank.get abit filter media from a petstore or use an additive like stress zyme or cycle(dont use anything other than those you DON'T need them) most fish survive a cycle fine but some are very sensitive, as long as you test it daily an give them water changes you should be fine to put a small amount of stock in there to get things going.also I do recommend stress zyme or cycle additive but only for the cycling of a tank, i doubt you'll ever need it again at least I never did... why not ask for someone local for some media?
  19. awesome! can't wait for my ones fins to grow back
  20. far out thats dirty, stealing someones pet just to return it in worse condition! + 1 on finger prints, leave a note on your letter box saying please return 2nd gecko DOA you should put a camera on the window sill for there return as im sure they will be back
  21. it is a concern about the rocks but It should be fine with the thick glass I filled the tank with 60L earlier an have found its out of level buy about a cm its 178mm to waters edge on 1 side, and 195mm on the other is that safe? current estimate of weight would be about 100kgs the cabinet is a pretty solid one weighs about 40kgs itself how ever the top of it was quite thin starting to wonder if i'm going to have to build something for it...
