  1. I think there is a good market for dwarf cichlids currently. As for "IMO" I'd like to see more killifish "commonly available"
  2. You could try a shower manufacturer, a place where they make/fold/bend plastic shower walls. Dunno if they would stock clear plastics but they might know where to get it?
  3. is this what you are referring to? http://theaquariumwiki.com/PMDD *EDIT, and where would I be able to get those ingredients from? I think id test it on a fishless tank first to get the balance right- a hydroponics/plant shop ?
  4. Could anyone give me tips on cheaper ways to source an dose nutrients for planted tanks? I'm buying excel now an it works great but is rather pricey. So I'm curious of other alternatives
  5. I used to just drop mine an use the random pieces an cover with sand an plants made for cool effect but I have dwarf cichlids. I also noticed my ph went higher so I took them out
  6. get a batch of babies is your best bet, much less likely to fight and you get to watch them grow :smln:
  7. "wild kribs" Pelvicachromis taeniatus - they are quite rare. Very cool fish if you like cichlids check them out
  8. would look amazing with some tame Xmas moss if you go the planting route I like it so far! nice work!
  9. eh it natural for dogs to dig, my suggestion would be to get rid of your garden, those measures seem extreme, if its that bad fence your valuable garden parts off don't punish the dog for doing a natural behavior. just my 2c
  10. I've had quite a few in the past even had a free range one in my room for 6months had a wee poo bowl in the corner that he used so was quite cool... My advice to anyone considering rats is get them as young as possible an get a minimum of 2. you'll need to buy a couple of towels an some rope an probably some boxes an stuff for them to play in an make them hammock beds. Great pets for anyone considering them you won't regret it. read up on toilet training them as it does work but takes alil time to learn... Worst comes to worst they only live 2years ish so you won't be burdened with them for ever an they definitely will grow on you
  11. I don't know what your filters like but that doesn't sound right to me, I wouldn't replace unless it was falling apart.Someone else can chirp in here?
  12. How old is the filter? ive been going for almost a year now an not had to replace any filter media at all?
  13. he is going to the vet today I think its so nie to have him home again, snuggled up on my lap for a few hours last night even though I could tell he was very tired
  14. Sorry to hear Bikbok its not a nice thing to go through. Haha mum told me about that Antwan. I was wondering who it was she talked to.
  15. you should see how skinny he is! lost alot to fast I think. For now we focus on restoring his spirit hes very tired. I'm so happy hes home, its been a rough few weeks for me :sml2:
  16. GREAT NEWS! :happy2: We found him :happy1: ! He turned up a week ago at a ladies house not far from us.meowing constantly she fed him an got him into a cage took to the vets, A friend showed her the mail drop flyer we did an she rung us. Now safe an sound at home sitting on the couch with me(this all happened tonight) Just amazing
  17. not much else you can do anyways hope she makes it with a huge load of babies for you  guppies are so temperamental
  18. I had a similar problem with my old guppy it held onto babies for ages when put in any trap then I took it out of breeding trap an it dropped overnight an all the babies were eaten. Next time I left her in the trap she stressed out stillborn all the babies an died. I reckon if the fish has any emotional value to you, just let it do its thing in the main tank an take the losses or else you could end up with nothing like me .(earthquake soon destroyed those tanks anyway but still) You say shes in the tank so you should be ok to leave her...
  19. what size cage do you think is reasonable for a native lizard? I was thinking I would try an build something around 120wide 60deep 120 high, have all mesh walls with a see threw plastic roof an probably a wood backing, not sure about what I would do with floor? mesh or wood + astroturf? I would probably build a second indoor enclosure for those extreme weather situations but that can wait until a later date.
  20. 2 tubes seems alot but better to go more than less. I would suggest having nice straight taped edges if your planning on doing it for the first time, keep a rag handy an keep your hands nice an clean. leave it 48hours to cure an give it a good couple of washes before using. make sure you clean the surfaces before applying an remember to wipe off excess asap, if any drys an is left it can be removed with a thin blade(try avoid craft knife blades) ive also heard sunlight soap is good for getting it clean, ive always used turps and never had any issues with so called "smudging" also ive used selleys stuff, imo its way overpriced but it does the job an unless you gona buy a pack of 12/24 its hardly worth attempting to get a better deal. always read the back of the tube it will say weither its ok for aquarium or not
  21. nice work! having breeding fish is always exciting music i wouldn't expect on a baby fish video, but to each there own p.s that water looks almost like there natural environment! just need some slimey weeds on the bottom
  22. very cool tank  , I love the red fighter! so amazing in red.I miss my fighter :tears:
