  1. I'm sure greg would have offcuts suitable for reinforcing. Would use 10mm glass for that (you can never be too careful IMO)
  2. My favorite weekends are spent setting up new tanks... Im so jealous. My weekend will involve cleaning mine
  3. I did get to have a bit of fun though, she asked me turn my computer on (which i was in front of at the time). i asked her to hold on and googled the scam. after a couple of minutes picked up the phone and she was still there. was quite a good laugh asking loads of technical questions and hearing her trying to make up answers on the spot. I think its about time to get my number removed from the directory, i hope this stops it. Ive had about 4 scammers ring in the last month. its bad enough having my bank, insurance etc calling to sell me extra carp.
  4. It may be an overkill for your current 110L tank but i guess it depends on what fish you have. The 1200 x 450 x 450 is about 250L so that should be perfect
  5. I picked up 2 of these the other day, one for my new shellies tank and one as a secondary along side the fluval 405 on my african tank. They seem like great value for money (especially at the price hff is doing). So far im very impressed, the flow looks not bad and has lots of room for media and sponge filters inside.
  6. Just wondering if anyone else has had a call from the "Global Computer Maintenance Department". Ive just got off the phone with a nice indian lady claiming that i had downloaded unwanted files that were damaging my computer, and she would help me remove them. I wonder what would have happened if i went along with the instructions she was giving me. Luckily im used to scammers ringing up so i caught on straight away but i can imagine that alot of people less tech savvy would get suckered in. She ended up hanging up on me when she realised i was wasting her time. lol
  7. In the past I've got poly from expol in penrose/onehunga. Im not to sure how their prices stack up, i was just getting it for under tanks and backgrounds etc. Its alot cheaper to go straight to the manufacturer than to a building supplies shop.
  8. I use a similar product at work (Im a waterproofer). I would definitely advise against using it in a fish tank. It is bitumen based, basically the same stuff on your tar-sealed road.
  9. dexterous: meaning ready and skilled in physical movement.
  10. Yep they get frozen blood worms, snails and when i can be bothered hatching them, baby brine shrimp. They chase them around for hours. Also tried them on some raw frozen shrimp, a couple had a nibble but they didnt seem to thrilled.
  11. We have 3 dwarf puffers with 3 bb gobies in a 60L tank (freshwater). We asked the same questions to staff at hff and they thought dp would not tolerate brackish conditions. They seem to get along very well. Things can get a bit nasty at feeding time so its best to make sure you add more than enough to go around. This is just my experience, ive also heard of people getting nasty little sob's which cause havoc.
  12. I find my fish tank is far more entertaining than the crud on tv at the moment. Its hard to watch a tv show right through without getting distracted by my africans in the tank next to it.
  13. I know someone who lost a tank of goldfish after bombing (or fly spray, i cant really remember). But they hadn't taken any measures to protect them. This is how i inherited my 60L hex tank (don't worry i gave it a very good clean before throwing in fish)
  14. Im a waterproofer by trade. We often use a nuplex product called Aquaguard which is a two pot hydropoxy. It can be applied by brush or roller. Ive heard that once cured it is safe for water tanks, reservoirs etc. so it should be fine for aquariums.
  15. The puffers in hff at the mo are a much healthier batch than last time! grabbed a couple more fore our puffer/bumble bee goby tank :bounce: mt roskill has two tanks full
  16. Sorry to hear this. Dont give up though!

    ANY IDEAS????

You could try Copadichromis borleyi (Kadango) or Red Empress.
  18. In my limited experience GBA eggs sitting out in the open wont last long with angels and other bottom dwellers. Lost a whole spawning to my africans when they were in with them. My male is a very good daddy and spends most of his time protecting the eggs under his log. My guess is that yours will attempt to do the same.
  19. Watch out for the mozzies when trying to get to sleep! Very nice!
  20. Haha on this note. Gave my sister a few fish to add to her community tank when i took apart my 60L. The little GAE i gave her terrorized everything and ended up in a icecream container for a while then down to the LFS. I felt so bad.
  21. Ive got my GBA pair in their own tank now as the last spawning was a snack for their tank mates. They were in my african tank though so no surprises really. Wouldnt mind throwing in some small fish to make use of the top 90%, it looks like its empty most of the time. Would tetras or similar eat eggs or fry?
  22. A couple of years ago we narrowly missed a head on collision with a truck. It came around the corner on our side of the road and my girlfriend managed to swerve away. It still swiped us though, car was a write off. Sadly the car behind us wasn't so lucky.
