  1. Thats some good cheesy pus nom nom Well done with Braveheart, fantastic
  2. It is luminescent paint, "glow in the dark". Think it is quite expensive (the good stuff, the crap stuff is probably $2 at the $2 store) and only has a good glow for about 5 maybe 10min after lights out. The crap stuff has a very weak glow and not for long.
  3. update: I have one tiny baby sterbai corydoras!!! Squee !! :happy2: So exciting (first cory baby ever) , was an egg that looked like it had a worm inside this morning and this evening it is an egg with a tail racing around the container So, thankyou Naughty Fish for trying to fit two eggs your mouth at once .... think I will call him Gobstopper :sml2:
  4. I just rinse off the dust. Sometimes I pour boiling water on them just because they often have price stickers on them, to get rid of any glue residue.
  5. She is now being punished by having to look at her morsels through a plastic container.
  6. LOL - crisis over. No damage to mouth, the offending articles fell off when I was trying to catch her and mouthparts are all normal. Now.... how big are cory eggs?
  7. Can anybody tell me whats going on here? This fish is in with one male dwarf gourami, wondering if he did this to her?. There is a protrusion from her lip, her mouth looks like it is extending out more than usual, and two circular things in her mouth/off her lip which are bothering her as she seems to want to flick it off. Can't think what else it could be other than some kind of injury. Can they prolapse their mouth? Will catch her in a bit an have a closer look. the light makes it hard to see, it is not as opaque as the photo shows Opinions anyone? hoping I can fix it by removing the offending circular things but am worried her mouth might be irreparably damaged
  8. Few questions from me too - I also have some dwarf gourami babies (Colisa lalia) that have been free swimming for 2 days. I don't have any infusoria, but have been using liquid fry food - a few drops 2-3x per day. No idea if they are eating it tho, and worry that I am just polluting the water. I have a big bunch of xmas moss and lots of java fern and stargrass in there tho, would that house some micro-greeblies they can feed on? I've read you can feed frozen rotifers but am wary of not polluting the water too much as I can't really target them, they are all over a 60/30/30 tank. Is it worth trying the rotifers? How long until they will be big enough to eat microworms or bbs? Also when should I do a water change? these guys are so microscopic they would be hard to spot in the bucket if I siphoned them up... thanks in advance
  9. well - I think I have babies! They are just resting on top of the leaves around the nest, don't appear to be able to swim, and he is still actively blowing bubbles into the nest. Not sure how much longer to leave him there for (it is 48hrs post spawning), don't want them to get eaten? They are so TINY, I wonder now if there were some babies first time they spawned but I just couldn't see them. Was also expecting them to be wriggling/vibrating like the apisto babies did when they were first hatched/before free swimming. These could easily pass for BBA fragments! FYI the nest looked broken up yesterday evening (@ 24hrs post spawn), but I couldn't see any babies tho thought I saw a couple of eggs. By this morning he had re-blown the nest. So nest breaking up may not be a great indicator after all, as looking at it now its perfect but they have hatched :dunno: Soooo not infertile then, good news for yours I wish I could take a photo but too small for my crappy camera.
  10. I have a 60/30/30 you can have for free (tho no lids), tho if you are in Hamilton it might be a bit far to come. Thanks for that info, the nest never did break up last time tho it was under a halved poly cup so not sure if that would make a difference? I checked daily with a magnifying glass and gave up about day 6 or so after spawning. cross fingers!
  11. I am the same as you - have a cobalt male and royal red male and one female. I tried spawning the royal red and female a few weeks ago but no babies. I possibly panicked and took the female out too early as she started to pick at the eggs and I thought she would eat them. I saw them spawn about 3-4 times but not sure if they were finished. I then fed the female up and put her with the cobalt male a few days ago, and they started spawning last night. This time I left them for about 3 hrs and then removed her (they looked finished and he was quite aggressive). Now I don't know whether to remove the male or leave him with the nest - will he eat the eggs/wrigglers? Anyone actually had any eggs hatch? Hoping the reports of sterility are not true
  12. Wow I wonder if even the male was confused as the biffo between the first pair killed him.
  13. I am not terribly far from Birkenhead to pickup if you couldn't find it anywhere else, could ship it to you? Tho I wonder why they don't ship it :dunno: *edit* Just saw that the cake tins are for hire, so that would explain it. You could call and ask them if they would sell you one?
  14. Joe - at the top of this page Tho that Joe is in blenheim not invercargill ...??
  15. Looks like an injury/ulceration. Heater burn? Its quite a large area thats affected, looks very nasty to me.
  16. looks like a bite to me, thats a decent chunk missing :dunno: What are they in with, dwarf chain loaches? Did a quick google and found an account of dwarf chain loaches attacking and killing guppies.... so its possible :dunno: :dunno:
  17. fantastic, what a cool lizard. Looks like its been photoshopped.
  18. http://www.spca.co.nz/spcainaction/birdwing.aspx What kind of bird is it? Does it have any feathers etc?
  19. wow, I got my own job, all by myself at 14yrs. Actually my first job was at 12 when I had a paper run, also got that without parental input or prodding too. Did not affect my schoolwork in any way at all. Really don't think you can blame having a part time job for having poor grades at high school :dunno: You can blame poor grades on not doing the work tho. I agree that a 15yo shouldn't have to get a job but I wonder if she wants a lot of expensive "stuff" but wants her parents to pay for it who refuse - she therefore needs a job....
