  1. buggar buggar buggar This is the way my agassizi female and my cockatoo female went out. Tried salt bath with the cockatoo and melafix with the second, not sure if it did anything except send them on their way quicker Apisto curse strikes again :tears:
  2. +1 Or not trapped but maybe sick or not feeling well and hiding in the dark somewhere in, under or around your house. Hope you find him safe and well soon.
  3. Don't know the answer sorry - but I think I had my eye on these two clowns if you got them from the shore I had just been contemplating whether I needed to set up a clown killie tank LOL, and had gone home to check to see if I could determine the gender of the ones in the shop, and to see if I could find out the size that you can sex them at. (didn't really get anywhere!) They are gorgeous fish, so CUTE. But don't know anything about killies so maybe that was lucky you beat me to it. I found some pics, very hard to find photos of just females http://www.alfanita.se/alfanita_se_old/oldfiskar/pseudep_annulatus_maboshi.htm In this pic there seems to be a very very faint yellow stripe in the middle on the female on that one http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum/showthread.php/17272-Clown-killie-Pseudepiplatys-annulatus where here the female looks completely clear to me So.... dunno. What are the dorsal and anal fins looking like? Perhaps patience + time maybe....
  4. Looks great Do you have a GH tester? Would be interested to know if it hardens the water significantly. Thinking I might need to take a trip out to muriwai .... ps. your kitchen looks normal to me
  5. Thanks, appreciate that. He was ancient at 14.5yrs - so for a big dog, he did very well. Sorry OT again
  6. hiya obstacle - have you updated anywhere on how you are getting on with your muriwai sand? Vy keen to know if its successful
  7. Apparently these are not on the list anymore
  8. It will get better. Don't be afraid to see your GP either, I often used to go for "grumpy" babies. Some gaviscon may help, and can check baby is doesn't have an ear infection or something else going on.
  9. hiya Firstly - HUGS!!! Secondly - sounds like you are doing a GREAT job with her, I mean it. Both my first and second kids were the same. Some kids are not good sleepers at that age, compounded by coffee groups/friends/your mothers children who had angelic babies that had day naps of 2-3 hrs at a time  You need to get some sleep, so find someone who can take over for you while you have a good nap. If you don't have family or a friend that can do that, ask your plunket if there is a parent centre near you as a friend went to one and they looked after her baby while she had a sleep. When you have some sleep you really can cope with anything, so what screams at me from your post is that you are really really tired and need a break. I recommend getting a frontpack or an ergo, so you can be handsfree while baby chooses to sleep on you, as a backup plan for sanity when nothing else worked, and you are sick of putting them down for the millionth time. It got me through for all three kids. The other thing that I made sure I had for my third child after the madness that was 3 min naps of my second child was a rocking cradle or some way to rock baby to sleep. I think the other thing I recommend is throwing away your watch or clock so that you stop checking feed times/ length of nap and just roll with it - it sounds dumb but it honestly made a big difference with my first boy. Yay you for breastfeeding, it is hard work to begin with but it is well worth it down the track if you are able to keep going with it.
  10. you cat will survive & hide for a few weeks, and will forgive you when he's gone (sounds like mum speak for I don't want to) What a shame, I would love to have him but our fence is old and has maltese sized gaps in places. Our dog died in Feb and I really miss having a dog around, but he was a big dog and so we never worried about little gaps. He is definitely a little cutie
  11. When I first started I used boiled water because of the copper, however, since researched and realised it is minimal and have used hot tap to mix ever since. Waaaay easier using the hot tap   I always warm the water up, esp in winter as our tap water can get pretty icy at times. Doesn't take much to mix a bit of hot into it, but then I do water changes with buckets as well. I guesstimate the temperature and am usually pretty close (the ol' hand in bucket, hand in tank check 8) ) In summer I barely have to add any hot - the ratio of hot:cold depends on the day. Someone on here once said cold water changes are fine as long as you are not changing much more than 10%?
  12. wow, thinking of you guys down there. Hope everyone is ok.
  13. perhaps its just a case of the what the wholesaler calls it.
  14. re: aquaworld - wait a few days to a week, he only had one male in and one (faux??) female. He said he had an order in for the cockatoos and should be in next week. Incidentally our discussion also turned to corydoras adolfoi and he said that tho they weren't on the list this week (had been for the previous two) once they come back on he will get them in for around $25 also. Tho his cory selections seemed to be only in the twos and threes they were reasonably priced. Altho I would quite like to get your opinion ryan on whether his female is male, like I suspect... It is literally just around the corner from me, so I will be keeping my beady little eyes on them - can keep you updated
  15. Interesting about the size, I was assuming the ones I saw in the shop yesterday were not fully developed, but could just be a lot smaller compared to my monster. Nice pics
  16. Albany doesn't, not on order, and no plans to order them :dunno: Hope they change their minds tho. They do have more agassizi in and at least 2-3 females from the looks.
  17. Ours here on Nth shore is spot on 7.0, checked with hubbys flash work ph meter. Rainwater from my leaky rusted guttering holes for some reason is around 7.8 :-? weird.
  18. Password was actually dangermouse, but secret squirrel is close enough - I will imagine you just pulled a funny face Joe.... so here is where I saw some http://www.aquaworld.co.nz/ Just discovered them literally just around the corner from me! The "female" was not fully black (actually no black at all) on the pectoral fins tho, and I think given a little bit of time may show more obviously as a male, as I could also see some colour up on the dorsal fin as well. The guy said more were due in next week so I will go back and check them out then. The male had strong colour, but not fully through the tail, and fins were fairly short. He was only little tho, so may colour up more with time. But a real nice strong red. I also heard a rumour that HFF mt roskill have some golds on order, hopefully on thurs they might come in. Not sure how much $$ tho.
  19. oh really.... not sharing info huh? :smln: I saw some today, for very good price too. Around $25 for imports.... Wonder if its the same place as yours BURN... If anyone wants to know where they will have to whisper the secret password and make a funny face I will wait until they get some more in tho, want a definite female, no room for fakers at my house anymore!
