I think this is really the crux of the matter, tv needs ratings. The best way to get them is to put people with ridiculously crazy viewpoints on and give them validity by interviewing them on tv. This is the tv media messing with your head. There are crazy,racist, nasty people out there everywhere, but in the real world there wouldn't be many people that would give them the time of day. Unfortunately TV will. Don't forget there are a lot more nice, normal, non-racist people than there are nutbars.

Just checked the map of the tornado path, and apparently it passed about 200m from our house Tho am skeptical of their mapping skills, I didn't hear anything thru the pouring rain. Feels totally surreal. Went to the supermarket today.... freaky to think there is a big hole in the roof now.

Think it was right on 3pm, or a couple minutes after. Very very freaky.

One person dead apparently, and others injured Was just at Pak n save earlier today. Small tornados are fairly common in auckland, but don't usually hit populated malls so don't often make the news as its usually roofs and fences down. We had one go through my mums place a few years ago, trashed everything in a 1.5m wide path, went past my sleeping baby's window with about a metre to spare. Scary stuff. Hope all the north shore fish people are safe.

i am sure that taking him alive would have been the objective, as they would have rather kept him in a jail than matyred him. Death for the cause is an honour for him, which was why it would have been near impossible to catch him alive.

I have to agree. Celebrations don't sit well with me at all. Relief is probably more appropriate. I felt the same way when Godafi's son was reported dead - it is a sad situation on many levels, not one to be celebrated at all.

yay for little babies!! Got some oak leaves on the ground up here already ... guess AK might be a week ahead of Hamilton Boiled them and put them in the tank yesterday afternoon. I was going to get peat but all the shops were closed when I wanted it...

I agree with above.... did it on a my old tank for the garage (not display tank) with a brush and acrylic paint. Looks terrible, had a hard time getting it to stick, each brushstroke wiped off the one before. Next time will definitely use an oil based paint and think the spray paint plan is an excellent one if the tank is empty. If not I would roller on some oil-based paint.
