  1. I believe it depends on the native. Note how I have held myself back from silly remarks here? I have a mental picture of a tank full of maori all complaining it's warmer in Auckland and they should be kept in a tropical tank.
  2. Good to hear your samples were fine but there must be a problem somewhere as ich is usually brought on by stress or caught from adding infected fish to the tank. Did you introduce some new fish to the tank?
  3. I only have Ancistrus and leopard corys.

Hi and welcome cliff. The more the merrier
  5. removing your gourami while you do a water change would probably cause it more stress.
  6. What size is that tank?
  7. Out of curiosity, why is your nick dark? That t shirt was a lovely shade of not-orange by the way
  8. Peas is a serious answer by the way

    Bo!

That isn't Nemo - he hasn't got a 'lucky fin' Good pic pies!
  10. We have trouble with the heat in our tanks sometimes too but not as bad as yours!
  11. Good luck with getting your club up and running nicks.
  12. I have always found them sensitive but others have had no problems with them. Does that make them SNAGs? Sensitive New Age Gouramis?
  13. shelled, cooked, peas have also been beneficial

    Hiya!

Welcome to the fishroom John. It isn't always difficult to convince a wife
  16. You should have found out all the answers before you got the fish! They are a cichlid from Lake Tanganyika and grow to around 8cm. Feed them cichlid food. They are mouth brooders. I hope you have them in a large enough aquarium.
  17. They can certainly have swim bladder trouble but I would not say it was 'broken'. Fancy goldfish are particularly prone to swim bladder problems which means the fish has trouble swimming upright, or straight. It is often worse after feeding and can be helped by only feeding fine flake or live foods rather than dried pellets which swell up inside the fish. If the fish appears otherwise healthy and is able to feed I would not worry about it. Not sure if you can 'fix' it though, depending on why it has a problem with the swim bladder in the first place.
  18. Gouramis have great difficulty taking photos due to their fin structure so they tend not to send holiday snaps - unlike gnomes who delight in having themselves photographed in well known locations  It is also possible a fishing gnome got your gouramis
  19. Most of the shops in ChCh have hairgrass so it is obviously around. Have you asked your lfs to get some for you? Mini chain sword looks good and doesn't grow too high. Echinodorus tenellus
