  1. I tried photo island but it only shows the pic for an hour then it disappears . Perhaps there is something I was supposed to click on and didn't. :-?
2. Here is an article Warren wrote for the Aquarium World magazine... The picture needs to be hosted somewhere other than the FNZAS site and a link is used to display it in your post. Places like www.digitalpose.com do free picture hosting and sharing. There are many places that do this, here are some: www.snapfish.com - provides film developing and online viewing and sharing services. www.picturetrail.com - offers various customizing and picture sharing options. photos.msn.com - store photos online, share them with others, make prints and photo gifts, and finds tips and tricks for creating better images. www.photoisland.com - provides hosting and tools for sharing your photo albums online. www.dotphoto.com - features photo sharing and processing. The site must support picture sharing otherwise the link will not work. There are many other sites too. If you use a search engine with ‘Free Picture Hosting and Sharing’ as the search title you will get lots to choose from. You will need to become a member of the site. Each site is a little different so use their guidelines for uploading your pictures to the site. You are now ready to add pictures to your posts, - here is how to do it. Here is the method to add pictures to a post: This assumes you are using Windows on a PC. It does not cater for Mac’s or Linux based systems. If you are using Linux then you will know enough already not to need this information. 1. Create a ‘New Topic’ or click ‘Post Reply’ in an existing topic to get into the new post screen (see Fig 1). 2. Type in the text of you post. 3. Put the cursor where you want to display the picture. 4. Click on the This is good. The FNZAS Website takes care of displaying the picture for you. When you submit it, it automatically links the picture in.

    Fluval 303

Remove the charcoal and replace with more noodles.

    schist

We pick it up off the side of the road whenever we go over Takaka way Or I think it's schist - Nice flattish stuff?
  5. Is it possible it got stuck between the heater and the tank? If so, make sure it can't happen again. I know little about puffers and remedies but would suggest some Stresscoat. I think this is the product that helps produce a protective slime coating on fish.

    Fluval 303

Nothing wrong with Fluvals generally speaking.

    Mondo grass

Mondo grass is a bog plant but often sold for aquariums. Mine didn't last but that is not necessarily the fault of the plant . I doubt it would surviv with Africans.

    schist

schist is fine. It fizzes more than bubbles if it is not suitable. A few fine bubbles like yours are just air bubbles.
  9. It also depends on temperature. If she lives somewhere where it is always warm, she would get away with a bristlenose, Ancistrus

    Big Catfish?

the red tail cats are around but supposed to be illegal to keep so I don't know how the 2 pet shops I have seen them in can get away with it. They have had them for years!
  11. Love it Ira. Notice how he blends in well dark's t-shirt?
  12. A lot of people use a little salt in their tanks to maintain fish health without a detrimentaleffect on the plants but 1Tbs per 20 litres sounds a lot to me (but I know nothing about it).
  13. a plecostomeel
  14. I am no plant expert but I suspect the salt.
  15. She isn't the sort of 'celeb' we want at our events I don't think. Anyone have any other suggestions of suitable celeb head replacements for pies?

    Logs

I don't know that boiling makes an appreciable difference to the leaching, just makes themsink a little faster. Someone said it you use baking soda (rinsing well afterwards so you don't stuff the pH) it gets the air bubbles out so speeds sinking as well. I think the only thing to do with the leaching is frequent water changes until it levels off or leave it as it is. I have seen some lovely setups with the water a tea colour to great effect.
  17. Sorry Pies, I didn't see page 2! Well, it looks like everyone has come to the party except pies so I will print his photo instead
  18. Itis amazing where fish can live isn't it?
  19. Thank you all. Jane I assume your permission covered Mark as well. I will assume Warren is OK with is cos his pic is already in the magazine anyway.
  20. Not tried it but will be very interested in how it goes. Is it a marine tank?
  21. A lot of people set them up in the work place. In your case, assuring the boss it won't cost him anything (hardly notice a bit on the power bill) and customers will be attracted to it, stay longer in the shop, and maybe buy more. Of course if you want him to pay for the tank set-up you will have to point out it is good customer PR. They are well known to reduce stress so he/she would have a calmer work force, all happier in their jobs so more productive!
  22. Thank you Ira. Since thousands have seen it on the Net, I didn't think a few hundred more would be too terrible. Thanks to you too dark.

    cloudy water

Give it another 2 or 3 days. If the plants can take it, turn the lights off and darken the tank as well.
  24. Pies: I have no other details so can't tell you what fish they were. I just wondered if it was connected. I don't even know if the fish were sterile or just the people weren't experienced enough. Steroids have been mentioned in relation to this place but all is only heresay, which is why I didn't mention name or location Herefishiefishie: It may be in NZ, I just said I had never heard of it. As there is no petshop in my area I do not get to see what is on offer very much.
  25. I am writing an article about the BBQ for the AW magazine and would like permission from all in the group photo (posted in this thread earlier) to print it. I know you aren't happy with your visage Ira but none of us are (happy with our visages that is, not yours ). Permission please from Ira, Joze, Dark, Janey, Interfecus, Mark and Warren
