Earthquakes and fishtanks :)
It depends on how well the tank is made and what sort of surface it is sitting on. We lost a tank with a very small quake once but it was enough to crack the base. We got up in the morning to water everywhere and fish lying on the gravel. Managed to save most of them though as we had the new tank (the one pictured in the tank section) set up and had been going to add the fish that day anyway.

Keeping tempurature in line...
Hi and welcome FG. Perhaps you would like to tell us a bit about yourself in the Introduction section? Don't know if your idea would work. I doubt it could cool anything enough but have no idea, never having tried such a thing. Not sure I would want material drawing water out of my tank either

Worst Day Ever!!!
Sorry to hear about your fish.

Danio Fry
and who has the patience to milk their microworms? You need a really short stool.

Danio Fry
I'm sure I am responsible for the breeding. They got all excited at having their photos taken

Silver Dollars
I would not put 2 silver dollars in anything smaller than a 4ft tank. Of course they can start in a smaller tank but will outgrow it.

Yet another newbie... sigh... lol :)
Mine is set at 22 as well.

What to buy, what to buy...
A plecostomus is totally unsuitable as it grows way too big for a tank that size. The rest are all fine for beginners. The pale fishes with no eyes are blind cave tetras. I would not put guppies in with tetras as the tetras would tend to nibble the guppy tails. Minnows can go in heated or unheated tanks but the rest are tropical. At this time of year though they would be fine inside without a heater (assuming it is around 18C). All (except maybe the guppies) will go together. They will all eat the same type of foods.

Same idiot, different questions
There is no such thing as a cold water guppy! Guppies can tolerate a wide range of temperatures and can be kept at room temperature. That is what is referred to as a cold water guppy. Not so cold, just don't need a heater in a modern, well insulated house. There is no difference between them and any other guppy. They should never be sold as cold water guppies!!!

Best and cheaperest fertilizer
I don't have to buy it - my fish provide it for free

java moss
Hmmm, I would tie it to a small flat stone or piece of log then silicone the log to the glass. Otherwise you could try a touch of silicone on the moss itself and squash against the glass. Why do you want it to grow on the glass? I have seen people make very effective walls along the back of their tank by threading moss through netting held up by wire hooks.

Silver Dollars
Silver dollars are generally not shy. Give them time to settle in. If you have any live plants in the tank then say goodbye to them now. SDs will eat them. They love lettuce leaves too. I hope you realise how big they get!

java moss
A bit of both. It can get away on you if you don't keep it trimmed. Tie it down to logs, rocks etc with fishing line.

Fluidized Bed Filters?
I have never had trouble growing plants over an UGF. As long as the substrate is at least 5cm deep you will have no problems. I have never had one crash either. I recommend them for all small tanks. Bigger tanks I feel need something more (perhaps a combination of UGF and canister filter) and I find the fatter uplift tubes ugly and hard to hide.

Little white "worms" in my tank.
Planaria worms probably. Cut back on your feeding and they will disappear. They are harmless, just unsightly, unless they reach plague proportions.

Summering Guppies
Go for it. They will do well. I have two ponds outside. One with rosy barbs and the other will have golden barbs.

Same idiot, different questions
You don't keep fish at tap water temperature. The cold water heats up to room temperature so the fish live at room temperature. In summer, this can be as warm as tropical tanks. Another neat little coldwater fish is the leopardfish, Phalloceros caudomaculatus.

wgtn plant
I took plants to the BBQ Antony and was asking who wanted any. Jude might still have some of it. Not all low lying though.
