Hi, my name is Caryl and I am a recovered addict in full control. We used to have 18 tanks but have managed to control ourselves and are now down to a manageable 3. Oh hang on, forgot to mention the one we had to set up for the barbs. Oh and the one in the spare room as a temporary home for fish passing through the country. The second one in there is currently empty so doesn't count :lol:

Since it is a .com I would assume it is based in the USA so you couldn't buy fish or plants unless you have a quarantine facility

I still say it is a badly designed house though. Too few walls and too many windows make it harder to fit more tanks!

This site is run by the FNZAS (Federation of NZ Aquatic Societies) which is made up of clubs nationwide. I know of only 2 clubs who do not belong. This is why we always suggest joining a club :lol: We have a chat room here too and you can usually find someone to talk to around 8.30 - 9pm onwards for an hour or 2. Sometimes we even talk about fish! :lol:

Hi Juse and welcome. Don't forget everyone has differing opinions so what you read is not always necessarily 'correct' and some 'know' more than others :lol: . This site is for hobbyists to share experiences and information. Thought of joining a fish club? Kapi-Mana are very popular at the moment

It is my understanding that fishfood starts losing its nutrients as soon as the can is opened to the air. Freezing should slow that down shouldn't it? I seem to remember someone suggesting freezing it in small bags.

Since the fishes you mention inhabit a totally different area of the tank I can't see a problem but I have not had baby dwarf gouramis so am not speaking from experience.

My Malawis are living in a lot lower. I got them off a breeder who has them breeding in pH7.0 cos that's what his tap water is and he doesn't like to muck around with water chemistry.

It will work for a few hours. Why do you want to raise the pH even more? What you have should be sufficient and less hassle.
