It is my understanding that fishfood starts losing its nutrients as soon as the can is opened to the air. Freezing should slow that down shouldn't it? I seem to remember someone suggesting freezing it in small bags.

Since the fishes you mention inhabit a totally different area of the tank I can't see a problem but I have not had baby dwarf gouramis so am not speaking from experience.

My Malawis are living in a lot lower. I got them off a breeder who has them breeding in pH7.0 cos that's what his tap water is and he doesn't like to muck around with water chemistry.

It will work for a few hours. Why do you want to raise the pH even more? What you have should be sufficient and less hassle.

Hi and welcome Debs. The nearest club to you is Dunedin. Am trying to get other southerners to start one again in Invercargill. I know a lot of people advocate salt but I personally don't like to add anything that isn't required to a tank. Choice is yours though as you will get as many believers as you will disbelievers. There is certainly no harm in it. Whatever works for you! Capre: Perhaps you ought to get a good sized map of NZ and start marking the various places on it. That is what I like to do with members in other countries. I also like to look up a bit about their country.
