Thanks Alan, I finally found them. In regards to my references and page numbers, my big Axelrod Atlas (1991) is ISBN 0-86622-217-0 the mini Atlas (1987) is ISBN 0-86622-385-1

I know a lot of people advocate salt but I personally don't like to add anything that isn't required to a tank. Choice is yours though as you will get as many believers as you will disbelievers. That is what I like to do with members in other countries. I also like to look up a bit about their country.

Not sure of the cause but use paper towel, or newsprint, laid flat on the surface to absorb it then see if the oil forms again. It may not.

They do all sorts of things :-? I have had orange fish develop black stripes down both sides of their bodies as they aged - looked very striking. My disease book only mentions 2 reasons for fish turning black... The whole body turns black - neural pathways which control fish colour are pinched or diseased. The skin of the fish turns deep black in closely adjacent areas. These areas thicken and the scales stand out - the fish is affected with melanosarcoma, a malignant growth. Sacrifice the fish humanely.

Treat it for what? Goldfish change colour
