  1. Only those belonging to an NZFAS affiliated club get the Year Book. If someone joins a club late out of the capitation time period they usually do not get a YB that year unless they specifically ask for one as it is, by then, out of date. The FNZAS has its AGM in June and clubs' AGMs vary but usually Feb - May. They are then suuposed to send their capitation fees and YB levy to the FNZAS treasurer who then collates it all and sends it to me in time to go out with the August Aquarium World magazine (and save a few hundred in postage). As of today, there are STILL some clubs outstanding in their fees. It is a simple request and there should be no excuse for dalays. I am unable to collate the YB until I have all the club details and then it is a mad rush to format it and get it printed. Late information just makes my difficult job nigh on impossible. Thanks a lot!
  2. People add bubble walls because they like the look of them. They do not add 'air' to the water.

    bio media

The main concern with tap water is very hot or very cold water wil kill any bacteria in the media and so will chlorine in the water (if your water supply has chlorine in it)
  4. You do not need to add extra oxygen in a well maintained and filtered tank.

    Lights...

I have never ever bought a lighting system or tubes from a lfs. Always bought plain stuff from trade warehouses. Just as good and a fraction of the price.
  6. Check your insurance policy first as not all will pay for damage as a result of aquarium water.
  7. I use the short fluoro saver bulbs and have no trouble getting my plants to grow.
  8. They are more sensitive than some other fish (hatchetfish, not the marbled ones specifically) so conditions must be suitable, and good, for them. They are also scared very easily.
  9. It was my pics you saw I think. They do get hot but not enough to melt the plastic guttering. I also line the guttering with aluminium to add reflection. It makes it even brighter
  10. It is known with bigger cichlids. Oscars are especially good at sulking
  11. Then PM me your real name and club please krissie. I think I know who you are but need to double check
  12. Yes they will do this. Maybe for a week or two. At least he's eating. Some refuse to do so for several days.
  13. I hope you have a larger tank in mind as yours is way too small for 6 clown loaches, not to mention all the other fish in there as well.
  14. I am all for putting them in a plastic bag and whacking them on concrete. Hard to do to small fish though.
  15. Joze if you can't say something nice, or constructive, don't say anything at all

    Bloated Goldfish

The medium salt bath as mentioned above says to repeat it every day for 3 days. I would only do that to the affected fish though, not the whole lot.
  17. What sort of white stuff? What sort of wood is it? I just scrub mine then drop them in the tank but never had white stuff come off any. :-?

    Is this true?

Suphew - No I rarely do water changes but vacuum the gravel when I do. They would get water changes once every 2 or 3 months if they were lucky.

    Is this true?

Using both is a good idea but I disagree with you saying UGFs need more work. I had a tank set up for over 5 years with just an UGF and never had to touch it. Canister filters need cleaning out.
  20. I guess some of us lack imagination, or in my case I would forget what I signed up as. At least this way I know who I am
  21. I still need permission Alan. Can't print names without it. Some have PMd me to say what they don't want put in their details in the YB. Thought it easier to ask who didn't first, so when I try to contact others I have fewer people to message
  22. I agree, too hot for me too 8)
  23. What is wrong with asking someone else who has specialist knowledge from working with the products?
