  1. Many of the traps are designed so the babies can drop through a V slot in the false bottom. It also means the fry can swim back UP into the main bit where mum eats them
  2. Just cos it is natural doesn't make it safe I understood it was highly toxic if overdosed (but I might be thinking of a different product). Melafix is tea tree oil if I remember correctly. In proper dosage I don't think it harms filter bacteria.
  3. Don't forget conference (Queen's birthday weekend) is in Nelson this year so a good opportunity for getting fish brought down from elsewhere with attendees
  4. How about you two trying to get a club going in Queenstown? I am happy to help you.
  5. Of course the food side never registered with billaney at all

  7. Very possible she was constipated. Also possible is she had a small batch of fry and then ate them all. Easy pickings in a breeding trap.
  8. As a matter of interest (or maybe not  ) I walked 10.7km at the wine fest and took 12,726 steps Just as well since I also ate 2 Olle Bolle (Dutch donuts - loose translation is "oily balls". Deep fried fruit bread dipped in cinnamon and sugar, split in half and filled with whipped cream), a marinated lamb shank, 4 mini Pinkie Bars, a mini Crunchie, a mini Gold Moro, a hot cross bun and 2 banana choc chip biscuits 8) :bounce:
  9. But it is waaay different to the original. Not as funny.
  10. Danios can cope with temps down to 18C. This means they can live in unheated tanks in warmer places, it does not mean they are a coldwater fish - despite what the lfs tries to tell you. They should not be kept with goldfish either.
  11. That was The Sooty Show Nat. I loved Basil Brush when I was a kid (Boom! Boom!)
  12. Just a single day. Tickets limited to 10,000 these days, unlike previous years when we had 20,000 crammed into a relatively small site  All sorts of related activites go on in various places throughout the week though with wine tastings, gourmet chef stuff etc. Only 57 of the local wineries participated in the festival itself, out of several hundred.
  13. I remember my husband having a good laugh at a Consumer magazine test for computer monitors. The "Best" and "Worst" in the test both came off the same assembly line in the same factory but just had a different brand name sticker slapped on them at the end
  14. I have heard of them being kept together but I have also heard many stories of the paradise fish attacking goldfish.
  15. Clare, contact AMAZONIAN as they will be organising a car pool.
  16. It was the 25th anniversary this year. We started work at 7am and got home at 8pm. Great day. Saw lots of interesting sights :-? Grant belongs to the local Amateur Radio Club and they provide communications for the event. We also guard the chillers behind the scenes. We direct security and police to where they're needed, call the electrician, plumber etc when needed and tell the ice man which stalls have run out of ice, and all sorts of other things. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ ... ?start=all
  17. Whoever complained about the Teletubbies had obviously never seen Rainbow
  18. Welcome. You've come to the right place. We might not always agree with each other but at least we aren't trying to sell you something The only thing we like to suggest is that you join an affiliated FNZAS club 8)
  19. My place - BBQ Feb 24th (Blenheim). We combine meetings sometimes. BBQ beside my pond then go to Sally's up the Waihopai valley to see some huge marine tanks and a few freshwater
  20. Oops, I was thinking shops, not private individuals or I would have thought of him
  21. Then wait until you get to ChCh and visit Organism (cnr Clyde and Ilam Rd)
  22. If you want them to grow well they need feeding with good quality fish food as well.
  23. I agree with slevin12. Do not be tempted to feed them extra just before you go either, you might cause problems. I get my oxygen weed from the river running through the middle of town.
