  1. 75L is about a 2ft tank isn't it? That is too small for goldfish let alone the other inhabitants. Have you checked the mussels are still alive? When they die they pollute the water fast. Not sure how rocks would cause green water. Is there any filtration on the tank? Much water movement? Sunlight?
  2. Perhaps it's his birthday and he has been celebrating  Wonder if there will be a mixed up lot of GBAs thinking they are snails.
  3. I have had Fluval, Eheim, AquaClear and Jebo - love the Jebo.
  4. Thanks HaNs. OK, who wants to research an article on NZ native aquatic plants? 8)
  5. I won mine at a conference 8) I would assume you could order it from any bookstore.
  6. The treasurer (and club) is new at this and she didn't realise receipts were required, or that people would want to know their money etc had been received. She has either this week, or next week, off so will contact all those who have registered then.
  7. He means a background like this... Instead of the one you have that is blue with plants on it. He then suggests some flat slate siliconed to the sides of the tank to add to the rock look.
  8. Since there is no number on mine, and it has a section on how to set up the landscaping, I will assume I have number 1. I agree with all that has been said about it. Very inspirational
  9. You do not have to be affiliated to attend the AGM as we are an incorporated society but you will be close to it by then anyway Loopy 8) Late reg refers to after the April 18th date mentioned.
  10. No, they are huge files even when done as pdf's. The main page has a lot of articles that came from the magazines though. The AWs are done in Microsoft Publisher. I have back issues of the earlier magazines (a few) and can print off the rest as required - for a fee of $5 per magazine plus postage. Postage has just gone up too as I used to be able to fold them in half and send them at 50c but they have narrowed the allowable thickness so all magazines will now be posted flat as A5 size at $1 Doubled our postage costs in one hit
  11. OK evil I can use that but Cheesejawa actually asked if anyone had done an article on native plants - and no they haven't. Anyone volunteering? 8)
  12. We didn't think you were nuts at all spink! Sorry we didn't understand what you were trying to tell us.
  13. I know how bad it looks but all the fish we saw looked fine to us. No sign of any sick or dead ones anywhere. All were alert with erect fins. They possibly were selling them fast as it was hard to move through the crowds of people and finding enough space to be able to take a photo.
  14. Did you see my post about emailing the finished article to me? (it was being added to and altered as more information came in). Never got an email from you. Is what is there now what you want to finish with? If so, I am happy to use it. Any pics to go with it? 8)
  15. Is it likely that the PH is high due to run-off from wall? Possibly. It may drop once the plants are added. Is the PH level at 7.8 too high for goldfish and plants? The fish won't mind, if they are adjusted to the pH slowly. The plants will get used to it I think and may, as said, help reduce the pH.
  16. This plant is easy and doesn't really care where you cut it You can cut it in sections and replant the cut-offs. They will grow new shoots.
  17. I have a rough idea of the type you mean but no experience with them. Am still unsure which bit the fish are getting attached to. Do you mean they are getting sucked against the inlet pipe?
  18. Thanks to Stella and Billany for answering my plea so quickly. What you have done is great Stella, to the point.
  19. I too am wondering what sort of filter you have.
  20. Needed ASAP but any that are not used for the May edition can be used in the August one. Sometimes I will have 2 articles on a similar subject so they need to be separated. Each magazine I try to have at least 1 of each of the following subjects; coldwater tropical marine food plant disease Thankyou Stella. I shouldn't have named anyone specifically I guess, I got carried away  firefish all would be appreciated.
  21. I am having a tougher time than usual thinking of articles for the next magazine. Anyone willing to send me something? I have 26 pages left to fill and am having a blank attack There are lots of you on here breeding fish, setting up tanks, growing plants, building DIY stuff, backgrounds etc. How about writing an article about it for me? Anyone whose article gets used gets a free copy of the magazine (assuming they do not already do so) and the excitement of seeing their name is an internationally read magazine! Pics are good too. Nobody is expecting it to be perfect - that is what the editor is for - to correct stuff. The Aquarium World is FOR hobbyists, BY hobbyists so please have a think. Even if it is something short I can use as a filler, anything would be appreciated. So far I have an interesting reply to fishy_t's article in the last magazine re the results of fish keeping on wild fish populations, an article on dropsy (thanks billaney), a perch egg exporting article (thanks Dave) and a bit from NIWA on the impact of ocean acidification. Blue, can you do something on worms? I remember you commenting you thought one of the pics in the last magazine was not of planaria, as stated. How about something on the worms you think they actually were (was it flat worms?) Stella, have you time for something on native fish? I know you are busy but I'm asking anyway 8) . It's your own fault for getting others more interested in native fish. Come on all of you - HELP PLEASE
  22. If you had asked here first I could have told you the $4 Shops had them
