  1. I suggest you also get your budgie from a breeder rather than the lfs. Only because often the birds in the shop are already too old to train. We got Bud from the breeder, two days after he left the nest. Nov/Dec are when there are a lot on offer.

    Hi there

...who possibly smells a bit at the moment and looks underfed too  Welcome to the nuthouse Tuffers
  3. I too would go for the budgie. Quieter and smaller sharp beak!
  4. and if you keep holding their noses like that they will end up looking like flatfish's avatar! :-?
  5. I feel more sorry for the poor cows! Stuck calves can be very hard to dislodge :-?
  6. Both sites are looking great! Well done to you all and good club advertising! I hope you made up business cards or leaflets to hand out to punters interested in joining. :bounce:
  7. Good luck with your search. I moved this to Off Topic as the trade and exchange section is for aquatic related items only. (I don't need anyone claiming ducks are aquatic either thank you! )
  8. I hope someone takes lots of photos and sends me an article too!!!!
  9. Told you so didn't we? It still doesn't stop your worrying and it won't be the last time either
  10. Well done. Isn't fish keeping a useful hobby?
  11. If you know members have quite a variety of plants you could have a plant swap evening and talk about the requirements of each one.
  12. Well it's 3.27pm she ought to be home by now. How did it go?
  13. Visit another fish club. Participate in a Pet Expo (if there is going to be one locally) Have a tank and pond crawl where you all go and see everyone's set-ups Have a breeding competition
  14. Don't be fooled, cows are vicious! Sorry to hear you were hurt Sliva but obviously you upset the cow in some way so it was your own fault
  15. There isn't one at the moment. Ever thought of starting one? There used to be a club in Whangarei many years ago and I know there are a lot of fish keepers there
  16. Fingers crossed for a successful raising of the fry Simian
  17. Guest speakers (depends on the area. MAF people, DOC, fish 'experts', lanscapers, tank builders etc) Have demonstrations on building tanks, landscape design, basic "how to" set up a tank, making light hoods or tank lids and stuff. Have everyone bring samples of tank and tap water plus any pH kits they have and see if all read the same and what range of pH tanks and taps have. Go on trips to lfs (if you have a selection to choose from), rock pool areas, fish hunts, driftwood collecting. Have BBQs and social outings Have a sales table, auction or swap meet

    Melafix

JazzyJeff when I click on No10 it lists about 68 hazards re using the stuff, then goes on to list many other risks etc.
  19. No idea but they are gorgeous!
  20. You want some horror stories? My eldest couldn't wait to go to school and had no problems. I couldn't wait for her to go either so I had no problems. Second born was perfectly happy to start school but I didn't want him to go. He had been very ill up until then with major surgeries so I worried he would get hurt or bullied. Neither happened, the other kids were very protective of him, and we both coped well in the end Your feelings are very common and you will quickly calm down. She has been going on school visits hasn't she? So will know what to expect. She will probably be given a "friend" whose job it is to make sure she knows where everything is and where to go. So you might forget to put something in her bag. What are they going to do - have her expelled? Make sure she has a healthy lunch she likes and all will be well.

    Melafix

Tail tears are common and they will heal on their own but the Melafix may speed up the process. My bottle of Melafix has on it; Contains Melaleuca CAS#8008-98-8 and inert ingredients. When I looked up the Melaleuca bit I found this. Once on that page, click on the Risk Satements! Interestingly, apart from the carcinogens (plus lots of sentences starting with 'harmful, toxic, or very toxic), it also says Very Toxic to aquatic organisms, Toxic to aquatic organisms, Harmful to aquatic organisms, May cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment, Toxic to flora, Toxic to fauna. :-? My bottle also says; Warning. This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm.
  22. True, the other two came to mind first though I forget Alan has killies, I tend to think of him as the plant man!
