  1. We start at Navarre's place sometime between 10 and 11am (depending on how quickly we travel)
  2. Cool! We'll be there! Just gotta confirm a BBQ start time with DonnaM

    Which killie?

He doesn't actually train them. He merely leaves the dead, dried up, bodies of previous jumpers lying in front of the tank where the others can see them and hopefully learn from their mistakes
  4. I often clean my tanks using salt so converting a marine to freshwater will not be a problem. If everything is rinsed well the salt residue will be negligible and not affect fish or plants.
  5. 1. Do I need to move them out of this tank? If so how, they are teeny tiny.. no 2. Will my other fish eat them? probably, but some ought to survive 3. What do I feed them? finely crushed flake food will be fine. Crush it between thumb and finger will be fine enough You could also try using a turkey baster if you want to try and remove some. The $2 Shop usually has these all year round.
  6. OK MarkLB you have to turn up at the BBQ on Saturday night and bring some of those buns (and butter) with you!!! Details of the BBQ will be posted later, once I have confirmed.

    Which killie?

Sounds like I need to call caserole and see what colour he has :bounce:

    Cloudy Eye

    Good link Jenniferh thanks.
  9. I think he should get 2 warnings at once for posting that!!! Or be made to buy us all one each

    Which killie?

Sounds interesting Barrie. What is their scientific name so I can see some pics? Does anyone have some for sale?

    Which killie?

Length of fish? I don't care as long as they fit the tank and are easy to see 8)

    Which killie?

I plan now to get a triangular aquarium in the bathroom. With the 2 right angle back sides being 480mm and the height 350mm I calculate a volume of 40L, give or take a bit. I am trying to decide what small, colourful, fish to stock it with. Was initially thinking guppies (gone off the fighter idea) but am now wondering whether this would be suitable for killies. If so, which mop spawners are the most colourful? I think I would prefer mop spawners to the peat layers. I have had A scheeli in the past. The gardneri looks nice.
  13. If they are chocolate they are not "proper" hot cross buns (delicious in their own right though)
  14. Are they doing more than one concert in Wgtn then?
  15. They seem to make them all year round, remove the cross, and call them spiced fruit buns
  16. He will order them in. They will not be stolen I am sure  We sell them too (edit, I realised what I put could be contrued a competition 8) ) and buy them in a boxful at a time. There are many places to get them from - all legal I am sure! There is a big range in quality but even the cheap ones go well. Some of the real cheap ones are rubbish though :-?
  17. Creme eggs are NOT Easter eggs (I will keep repeating that in the hopes I might eventually believe it) but I see an Easter bunny in there on the other packets
  18. My son and his partner are going so we are staying in his house in ChCh while he is away :bounce:

    Cloudy Eye

It is possible it has damaged the eye on something and it may improve without intervention. If the water quality in the pond is good I would be inclined to leave it alone while it is acting and eating normally. Often the stress of separating them is enough to trigger more problems :-? If it worsens, or the fish's behaviour changes, I would remove it and consider an internal infection to be the cause. As it is one eye on one fish which is otherwise happy, I would be more inclined to think it an injury, rather than infection, at this point.
  20. Ah well, back to the other suggestion then  Try the starters but more likely the tube.
  21. I'm with you there si_sphinx but to each his (or her) own I guess.
  22. Try the starter but it is usually the tube. You may have bought a faulty tube. Try changing the tubes around. You know the middle tube is good so try the other 2 in that position and see what happens. Try the middle tube in the outer positions and see if the flicker changes too. As all the tubes are probably the same age they will probably fail around the same time.
  23. Well I have added a light to the tank and can now count somewhere between 10 - 16 fry. The damn things won't stay still so I can count accurately! There is definitely 10 but unsure whether the rest are others or some of the 10 counted more than once
  24. Imagine how much worse it will be with an H in Wanganui
