If the tank has been runnning that long and the problem with deaths is recent, I doubt it is phosphates (unless council has added something to the water supply). Our water is naturally high in phosphates too if I remember rightly and my fish are unaffected. Did the fish all die within days of each other? 25L is not very big and you had 12 bottom dwellers in it, albeit small ones. What is your usual routine maintenance (how often and how much water do you change regularly?) and have you tested the pH, ammonia, nitrite and/or nitrates? These would be more likely to cause deaths than phosphate levels I should think.

Cut some fine slits in the wood and carefully ease a few roots into the split (or use exisiting splits in the wood) then you don't need to tie them down at all

I have never bought an all in one so can't comment but I do not like the look of them. They are very expensive but to me they look cheap :-? My tanks have all been custom built by a glazier at a fraction of the cost. They have then sat on existing furniture or, in the case of the lounge tank, had a unit built for them. Some have just sat on blocks :roll:

It was said in another thread that people are so quick to have a go at someone, debate is great but sometimes it seems to get so personal.......maybe the forum should put a new catagory in called Fisty Cuffs then they can get on with it there. Living Art thought Fishy Cuffs would be better and then others started coming up with their own suggestions. Cichlid_fan came up with Pike Tyson and TUNAmanator while Sharkie thought Mohamad Sharkie was good. These are more personal names than category names but who cares? Any other fun suggestions? :lol:

I note the comments were all negative too and feeling sorry for the fish. Surely, if they owned the fish (which I assume jumped out of the tank) they would know it won't bite but they would have to beware of the spines as they can hurt! :roll: For the record, for those who do not know how to handle these fish, wet hands or a wet towel would have been the way to pick it up, supporting the whole body while you lifted it back into the tank.

Grant often comes home with homemade goodies, fruit and/or veg from grateful clients. His favourites are the "seasonal cake" he gets from a Jehovah's Witness client (who doesn't celebrate Christmas so she makes a seasonal cake instead :lol: ) and a genuine Dutch apple pie my friend makes when he fixes her laptop. Today I came home to find several bags of venison and mutton sausages on the doorstep (well, in the hot water cupboard beside the doorstep to be accurate. People leave stuff in there or pick stuff up. Couriers know to leave parcels there if we aren't home too). An ex neighbour I bumped into said he had shot 3 deer the other day so he would drop off some venison for us if Grant would have a look at his computer. Daughter's partner has been deer shooting too so has a roast for us. Then when Grant got home he showed me the goodies he was given after doing a job at Makana Chocolates - choc dipped macadamia shortbread and caramel popcorn. The popcorn is very more-ish so I looked at the ingredients list... Sugar, popcorn, corn syrup, butter, macadamia nuts, brown sugar, baking soda, lecithin, vanilla. Hmm, I wonder if it is healthy? I am sure it is fat free! :bounce: There is still an unopened box of truffles in the fridge from the last time he did a job there 8)

Great! I have asked my son and his partner if they would like to join in at some point as we are missing both their birthdays (one is a week before and the other the week after :roll: ) because of conference so this would be a good chance for us to catch up with them. They have also met a number of the TT members :bounce:

When we were kids we put daffodils in coloured ink so they changed colour. Perhaps if you drank ink the hairgrass would change colour too?

Ours ate worms too but you had to wiggle them in front of the stupid animal's face or it didn't recognise it as food :roll:
